Did you have any apprehensions on having to work w/ muslims in your m.o.s. + if so, did it fade away within time or it didn't really matter from the beginning?

tamarah,

I cannot speak for everyone, but I have served with a couple of folks who are of Pakistani descent and Muslim.

I can say that those folks were patriots of the highest calibre and that I was proud to not only serve with them, but I trusted them without reservation as their commander.

As far as trust and respect is concerned, they had to earn mine as I had to earn theirs...same with anyone else.

I am not in the military. I've never worked with a Muslim in any job I've held in the past. I would trust working with and living next to Muslims. But as far as allowing Muslims join the U.S. Military, I don't we should allow that. Only because it's been proven in the past 5 yrs that many Muslims, men & women, have lied about their faith and their intentions and they are allowed in areas then later they end up bombing the office or building. We find out the whole time they were militants and were planted in areas around the world to learn about their enemies ways and then become suicide bombers and have to follow through with their real intentions. Not to say that all Muslims are terrorists. I am well aware that many aren't. But there have been many times in the past 5 years since 9/11 that countries have trusted Muslims and they were actual terrorists. It's is difficult now to know who to trust. And to allow a person join our military, learn our secrets, our security plans, etc, then kills our soliders from the inside would be horrendous. That's just my opinion.

orchidmg, FDR and the rest of America was thinking almost along the same lines when they were faced with the growing numbers of Japanese-Americans. Of course, the Japanese-Americans who lived in these camps were not treated horribly, but they were stripped of their civil liberties. A majority of them had never been to Japan EVER, and considered themselves Americans over Japanese. Sure, that was a time of war. So is now, in a sense. I don't think we should make the same mistake twice, what with selective pressures like that... I mean I'm not saying that what you're saying is lies, I would be a little suspicious too because hey, I'm human and I stereotype sometimes. I just don't think it's ethically right.

My God, people are so ignorant.

For the guy who said it would be beneficial to have someone who speaks the language... Muslim is someone whose religion is Islam, it is not a race. There are plenty of "white people" who are Muslim. Did you know only 20% of Muslims are from the Middle East? I cannot believe how close-minded you people are!

I have never personally served with anyone who I've known was a Muslim, but considering it is the 2nd most practiced religion in the world, I probably have unknowingly. To me, as long as they are not pulling any of that Jihad stuff (which isn't even technically considered a pillar of Islam), I have absolutely no objections to serving with them.

below the better of circumstances it fairly is a huge gamble. there are distinctive unforeseeable outcomes and unavoidable snares to this gambit. We did this in Afghanistan (keep in mind whilst the Mujahedin and Bin encumbered have been our allies?) of their conflict with the Soviets. look how great that grew to become out. we'd be extra ideal off preserving out of all of it mutually or purely figuring out on a facet and staying on it... yet we can't... interior weeks we can be enjoying one part against the different by using fact the financial hobbies controlling our legislators bid them.

What is the big deal with them being Muslim? Just because people are muslim it dosnt mean they are terrorists or Iraqi. Islam is like the 2nd largest religion in the world. But to answer your question, I felt just fine working with muslims. I worked with 2 muslim soldiers in Iraq, one was from Saudi Arabia and the other was from New York. They were just like any other guy I have worked with. Its not like they are freaks or anything

NO. I don't trust muslims on the land, in the sea and especially not in the air.

I have apprehensions working with Muslims and would not hire a muslim if I had a business.

I think all visas should be cancelled and foreign Middle East students should be denied access to our colleges.

911 guys all trained here.

We must actively recruit Muslims into the US military. It would make sense to have someone that could speak the language of the country we are invading.

Being a Christian, I have no ill will toward them and they should be able to do whatever they want. They had as much to do with 911 as mickey mouse did.
