My boyfriend's past?

My boyfriend and me dated then broke up (complicated family order to) and now are dating again while we were broken up he dated someone else and while they were dating we still talked all the time and she encouraged him to because he had told her he loved me. They both saw their relationship as nothing important and when i talked to her she told me how she never cared for him. Yet i can't just be happy again because i know that they were together in the way i think people in love should only be. any advice?
