It's dark and you can't see what's coming. Fear of the unknown basically.

Things seem worse at night, maybe due to the darkness and the unavailability of immediate help. I don't know specifically what you're afraid of. Is it strange noises, or you feel you're in danger? Maybe you should speak with a therapist to find out why nightfall is filled with dread for you. He or she might offer some helpful suggestions to rid you of your unreasonable fears. If it's just a general creepy feeling, that probably stems from the literature of the Middle Ages, where stories were filled with tales of ghosts and vampires and things that go bump in the night.

at night everything is dark, when its dark we can not see therefore we are exposed to something unknown... humans have always been afraid of the unknown, darkness is not the exception. At night you are more vulnerable because one of your 5 senses is not working as it works during the day, so you are afraid of something bad happening to you.

I am now going to prove what a nerd I am and quote Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:

"It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more."

Dumbledore was supposed to be wise, so I'll trust what he said.

I am afraid of night time because people around me are generally sleeping. So i feel that it would be hard to find help if something does happen..... like burglars, ghosts, etc.

Afraid of what exactly?Perhaps, it's because everything's really quiet and dark.Usually, in movies and stories scary tales and murders occur at night. So we sort of have this image in our head of that it might happen.

We cannot see what is in the darkness around us, so we are inclined to think that hideous things may lurk there.

the fear of the unknown I think, if you cant see it, it must be scary, and your brain will make it so.
