I think this is just a rumor. Dana White cringes every time he mentions Pride. I think it is just wishful thinking and I am all for it.
For one thing, fans would have more access to fighters from both organizations. The UFC cage is a superior ring. Come on look at how many times a Pride fight will almost go out of the ring. Then, a guy is almost submitted so he reaches for the ropes and a restart in the center to catch a breather. This reminds me of All Star Wrestling.
Now Pride without a doubt has better looking card girls. In short the show looks classier. The ring just doesn't mix with MMA.
So, in my summary the two will probably never become one. More likely, Zuffa will just create a permanent UFC Japan. I think a partnership with Pancrase would be more plausible.

Pride is the better of the two , not only from the match stand point but the quality of fighters as well.
If the UFC does takeover Pride, you'll see the demise of the only great MMA organization.
I think everything is snagging on whether or not the Pride fighters are gonna accept their new bosses.
As you may recall, some of the best fighters (like Wandi) came from the UFC...and not without some bitterness for the UFC.
If you're not gonna get their best fighters, why bother laying down the major Yen?
Conversely, if their best fighters sign with the UFC on their own, why buy Pride?

Dana White is denying it because the contracts arn't signed yet, the employees in japan have already been told that the sale is in place and when it goes through they're jobs are safe and the president Sakikabara will step down (well more like retirement because his serverence pay is $5 million) but the UFC has been burned in the past by Sakikabara, he was told that Chuck vs Wanderlie was a done deal before the papers were signed and he announced it to the fans, Sakikabara backed out and the UFC got screwed so they are not confirming anything until the papers are signed the exchange is done, they would be stupid to announce something of that magnitude and have them back out of it again. Everyone who watches MMA is getting a hard-on for all the dream match-ups we will get to see if it goes through so they dont want to get anyones hopes when they have a bad past with Pride when it comes to business deals.
(bad news, apparently Fedor doesn't like the UFC and has already signed a long term contract with BodogFight because his contract is with DSE the parent company of PrideFC and not PrideFC like most of the fighters so if the deal goes through his current contract that has 3 remaining fights on it will be void)

Zuffa completed it's purchase of Pride and the President of Dream Stage Entertainment is stepping down. Zuffa is the parent company of the UFC, and will not combine the two organizations. They will remain separate entities and Dream Stage Entertainment's last official Pride show is Pride34. Early word is that there will be one super fight each year, featuring the best fighters from both organizations.

What I've heard is UFC is buying Pride and in the meantime, Pride is signing all the top fighters they can to get the most out of the deal. Huge buzz out there about this.

The contract is not completely signed and the deals details are not fully disclosed to the public yet.
The fact that Prides fighters are from a worldwide pool is a definate plus for any action that happens between the two franchises.
I'm sure that everyone is anticipating the announcement as much as anyone else.

The latest I've heard is that Zuffa, the parent company of UFC has bought PRIDE. However, the two organizations will be independant except for one "Supershow" per year. PRIDE is also expected to do more shows in the US but will remain primarily in Japan.

Actually Fedor in an interview said that he thought Randy Couture was one of the best fighters in the world along with Mirko Filipovic and W. Silva. In the same interview he was asked if he would be interested in being the UFC heavyweight champion and he said he was. I mean if u think about it it's perfect. Fedor is (imo) a better grappler than a striker, i think with UFC's setup and rules he'd have even more success.

the only merger that may ensue between the LDS and the different sect is while the different sect converts to LDS and is baptized in accordance to our precepts. i'm particular that different sects experience an identical way approximately their ideals and faith. to be certain that any ecumenical circulate to ensue, there has to first be a perception that there is a few thing incorrect with what you have already got and subsequently, exchange is a good factor. that's not in the LDS destiny on the grounds that we have got confidence in a living prophet who won't lead the saints off track.

ya who knows..Dana White has said dont believe 70% of what you hear...maybe (fingers crossed) Dana's playing a sick game with MMA fans, and is gonna tell us UFC actually did buy it!! I really could careless. I think UFC is gonna kill what PRIDE has done, and make it less brutal.
