He seriously looks like a pirate cat! Its adorable but I don't want my cat to go blind :( Anyway, I did go to the vet but she didn't help me much. I believe she claimes his right lower eyelid is rolling inward and touching the pupil...which makes it sensative so he closes it. Does anyone have any recommendations or has an idea of why its doing this? Im trying to stay away from possible surgery if it comes right down to it. I try to clean it everynow and then but it still doesn't seem to help.

Unfortunately, surgery may be necessary to correct the defect unless there is some underlying infection or spasm causing the problem. The medical term for what you have described is "entropion." Without treatment, it can cause additional damage to the eye, including corneal ulcers. It is also painful. I know it's not what you were hoping for, but best of luck.

Sounds like touching it might just aggrevate it. There isn't some eye drops to just help with any irritaton? You could try a patch so your cat can't touch it and may be helps it to stay away from irritation at least and see what happens.

Or see if it might be some weird infection that is making his skin swell up and roll over. Then antibiotic might help for something like that.

I would definitely change vets. Unless you were told to clean it regularly,I would not do it as it might irritate the eye more. Sometimes a second opinion from a professional can really make a differance. Maybe the only option will be for your cat,is to have the surgery to correct the problem. Good Luck!!

Did the vet really not help you or was it that she said that the cat needed surgery to fix the lower eyelid? I don't believe that there is anything you can do to fix the lid if it is rolling inward. If you don't like the vet you went to, find another one.

If you're positive it's not herpes or chlamydia, then it's probably an issue with abnormal eyelashes (known as distichiasis).

You can pluck the eyelashes out routinely as part of their grooming, if this is the problem, then this will sort it out. The only other option is as you know, surgery.

It is a genetic disorder and is passed on so if your cat isn't neutered, please don't breed from him.
