it just depends on how much pain you can take. if you have a low tolerance you might not like it.personally i think that when they do the outline it does not really hurt at all, but when they do the coloring it starts to hurt because they start scraping over the cuts they made for the outline. people usually say that tattoos on the abdomen, feet and lower back areas usually hurt the most. but like i said that all depends on the person.

Well, I just got a tattoo a few months ago, and let me tell you, it hurt quite a bit more than I expected. I have pierced my own ears before, and that was never a problem for me, but the tattoo just about put me over the line. I got a very small heart on the inside of my ankle, and my friend told me it felt kind of like a hot scratch, but for me it really felt like a mi lions needles being pushed into the skin. But I was reallllly nervous, and so it probably hurt more. Now when I think back on it, it doesn't seem so bad, and I do not regret getting it. Good luck with your own experience!

I saw a girl getting a tattoo on her wrist and she nearly passed out. I was watching her just before I went in to get my first tatt. Pain level will depend on your tolerance and the area in which is being tattooed.
It really doesn't hurt much at all, even after a few hours or days. The only discomfort after it's done that you'll feel, is like a minor sunburn and your skin will peel similarly.

I was getting one of my shoulder blades tattooed, and had been in the chair for 6 hours.
In walks this big hairy biker dude. He looks at me, in my little pink pants with my cute blonde hair and laughs at me.
5 minutes later he was passed out on the floor, stone cold for a few minutes!!!
The moral to this story is.. if you want one badly enough, the pain is irrelevant. The pain is actually something that bonds you to your tattoo. "I had to go through all this pain for you, so I love you even more for it"..
Just take your time choosing your design. That's the most important thing. Don't go for the latest trends, because they will pass and you will regret it. If you get something personal to you, then there will be no need to ever wish it wasn't there.
Chin up. You'll be fine :)

Its extra of like an frustrating feeling, the description hurts probably the most, however then typically is going numb. Which mine handiest took like 10 min to do (actually). My fiance's, nevertheless, took like three hours. Get some thing small first, that means you recognize the sensation. And get it in a fatty field... like sort of in which you're getting it now. If you'll push your field in and now not contact any tough locations then it probablly is not going to harm as dangerous as, say, someplace a bone is.

i have never had a tattoo hurt so bad that i just couldn't take it. i have had them hurt to the point that i looked at my artist (who is a close friend) and told him that he is hurting me on purpose and he sucks, but we're friends and it's cool. i would never say anything like that to someone i don't even know. anyway... everybody is different. all of my tattoos have hurt. some definitely more than others.

It depends on your tolerance for pain. If a headache brings you to your knees, then yes it will hurt that badly.

Certain parts of the body are more painful than others (back, neck, etc).

I am wuss to pain, but I was able to handle an hour's worth on my ankle.
