I need to get a car ASAP but I don't have quite enough money saved up. What is the smallest amount you can take out for an auto loan? I only need about 2-3 k.

You can borrow whatever you need as long as they approve you.

If you do the loan for credit you have to have the loan for more than six months or it doesn't show up on your credit report.

the smallest car loan to finance is generally $5000 if the collateral meets criteria. You may want to consider a personal loan in your case.

Like Z said. I actually once borrowed 500 dollars for a motorcycle, from a bank! I know it sounds funny but it actually helped me establish some credit. If your putting a fairly large down payment it's pretty easy to get qualified for the rest. Good luck.
