I don't think Joseph was Jesus' father. It's obvious Mary wasn't a virgin either. The family just claimed she was and married her off to Joseph to keep her from being stoned. Is obvious she had been in the bushes with some young man and it wasn't no holy ghost business they were up to.

It has been a tradition of the Church since the earliest times that Joseph was a an older man when he married Mary. Possibly he was a widower with other children.
He and Mary both took a vow of chastity and sought to fulfill their primary mission on earth which was to be the parents of God in the flesh, the Child Jesus.
This is why both Mary and Joseph and are always pictured with lilies - an ancient symbol of purity.
Again, this is what has been traditionally held by the Church and it makes "theological sense" but there is not a Scripture verse for it.
There are many things Jesus taught and many things that are true that you wont' find a scripture verse for.

Mary was virgin till the birth of Jesus. Joseph wasn't the physical father of Jesus so he need not to be a virgin

The Bible is a load of C%$p. It was never meant to be taken literally only metapohorically. There is no proof that Jesus even existed only in the bible he is mentioned. That period of time in history is very well documented and he is not mentioned anywhere excerpt the bible. Also at that time Jesus was a very common name like "Matt" or "Smith" is today. And anyway if you go by the bible "mary" is a slut so anyone could have been the father, she was probably ashamed because she wasn't married and made up a bogus story that it was an emacculate conception.

Most scholars believe Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, was probably a widower with children from at least one previous marriage, the brothers and sisters of Jesus.
This would mean that Joseph was not a virgin.
With love in Christ.

Joseph wasn't Jesus' father. God is. Now, Joseph was His step dad or "earthy dad" if you will. And I don't know.

I don't know as the Bible never focuses on that. I would think it is very possible, but maybe he was married before Mary. The focus is on her, the mouther.
