In Feb, I'd a lump on the gum near an upper tooth (incisor or canine) which has a cavity at the gumline, probably due to trauma. There was no pain. The lump was there for about 2 weeks before I went to see my dentist. As there was an infection, my dentist gave me some antibiotics for about 4 to 5 days. The infection was gone after 10 to 14 days. I'm considering to have it root-canaled and place with a crown (instead of extracting it and replaced with a denture). If possible, I would like to save the tooth.
Can I get this abcessed tooth root canaled and place with a crown?? Since it is an abcessed tooth, I'm worried that if there will be any problem after the root-canal or after it is crowned??
Please kindly advise. Thank you in advance.

NO PROBLEM!!! A ROOT CANAL WILL SAVE THIS TOOTH. A CROWN AFTER THE ROOT CANAL WILL KEEP THIS TOOTH FROM BREAKING.
ps ask the dentist to place a captek crown. This in my opinion, is the type I myself would get.

Always save the tooth. A root canal is an easy and completely painless procedure.

if you've already had ALL your anitbiotics then theres no problem with a root canal and crown...(if they find more infection they will give you more antibiotics and proceed once the infection is cleared up )

(been there done that...)
