My parents are Christian, but we don't go to church. I'm wondering, why do some people count on God to solve all their problems? I don't have a job. I'll sit here and pray that I will get one. People hate me. I will now sit in a corner and pray that I will be miracuosly be loved. How can you devote yourself to and love someone you can't prove really exists? Is it like this safety net, as in if everything is bad in your life you can "still be loved by Jesus?" And also, why would god be so upset if you don't believe in him? We're supposedly HIS creation right? If your children ran away from home screaming "YOU'RE NOT MY PARENTS!" would you really have an urge to put them to eternal imprisonment in hell? I don't think so. Not meaning or trying to offend anyone here, you all got your opinions, so let me hear them. Thanks all!

Tuberoot - Haha. Come on, respect what I believe in, I never said that you're WRONG for relying on God. And maybe I am random and have a lot of thoughts on my mind, what's that to you?

It seems strange to me that whenever people are in need they turn to God. When things are going ok god is no where to be found. i am sure your parents are great people, but most people who believe in the fairy tales of the Bible need something more than this great life. i don't know why...

I'm wondering why you think that? Yes we pray, however, God is not going to just hand us a job. We have to apply for jobs and interview just like anyone else! We usually pray the right job will come along for us. God knows what it is. He will help us to choose the correct one if it comes down to two. You don't pray for miraculous love either. You love everyone and treat them with respect. You don't judge. We ask for guidance in our lives, not for God to do the work for us! God loves everyone no matter what! You can believe or not believe and He does still love you. That's not a question. And God does love us all so much that there will be a chance for non-believers after the Rapture. The Rapture will provide proof of His existance for those who need it. God did create us and knows there are some who cannot go on faith alone. This is why He gives the 2nd chance. However, by choosing that route, there will be misery to live through before getting to God. If you choose faith and acceptance and having your sins forgiven before this time, you will live with God in Heaven at the Rapture. He will take us in the twinkling of an eye.

The Bible says "Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one coming to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)
You have some notions about God that are not based on truth. The Bible doesn't teach that everyone is a child of God, but only those who have been born again, by the Holy Spirit of God.
My own experience is that for the first 18 years of my life, I never knew you could actually experience God in a personal way. Then at a time I was farthest from God, He graciously spoke a word into my heart that forever changed me. He revealed Himself to me as the One who loved me before the world was made, and sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to buy me back, at the cost of His own blood, after I had sold myself to sin and to Satan, and was a damned fool, in the truest sense of the word. In a hopeless world where the only thing you can be certain of is that you will die and your body will be reduced to its elements, I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to know for certain that this is not the end of the story, but that there is an assurance God gives to those who believe in Him, that they have the promise of eternal life through Christ, whom God raised from the dead. This is not a theory with me, this is my life experience - knowing Him.

I am a believer and here is only one quick true story why. I put my heart and all I had into this restaurant in my community. I built ( with my own hands) this fancy and expensive building that I could have been cheap on to turn a buck. In short the business went bad but not for the lack of trying. I gave it all I had and then some. One night I went into the bathrooms after a slow day of business and there was snot rockets blown all over my mirrors and vandalism done. My blood pressure went straight to BOIL and I was going to loose it. My hands were shaking and ready to go off. I hope you get the picture. In a split second these words came to my attention. "They did far worse than that to Me in my day". Please understand the text those words were in. All the boiling and anger frustration had completely gone away. I cleaned off the mirrors and had goose bumps on my neck and arms. I walked out of the bathroom praising God and at peace. AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.

I agree with you on some levels as some Christians do rely on God too much, like having sex with tons of people and praying you don't get pregnant or an STD. You do have to help yourself. You have to help God help you. He gave us a book with a warning that said we would go to hell if we did not accept Jesus as our own personal savior. Your parents, I guess, can still call themselves Christians as they probably do believe it God, b ut they should go to church as to get to know Him better. We could all be better Christians. The only reason I get upset when people do not believe in him is that I feel sorry for thier souls, and PLUS they come on here and critisize me for what I believe.

Christian don't believe God will solve ALL of their problems: we do believe he will guide us through life though. You can't just pray "God, I really want a Mountain Dew, but I don't have any here, and I don't want to go to the store, so can you just make on appear on the table?"
Also, there is no proof God doesn't exist.
And God doesn't throw people into Hell. He lets the people who love him into heaven... but does not let the people "he doesn't know",or the people who don't have a relationship with him in. Satan then would throw the non-believers into Hell.
I hope this helped. :)

It is not an obsession. The reason is simply that God is real. By believing in Jesus, who He is and what He has done, and by repenting of our sins, we ask Him to let us enter into the new covenant He has made with mankind through His Son. It is an act of our will, to do His will. He then gives us proof by His Holy Spirit, which He gives us as a seal and as a guide to teach us about this new life we have started in Him. That is where the expression "born again" comes from. His Spirit confirms with our spirit that He is a living God, dynamically involved in this new relationship with us. It is as real as the air that we breath. It is a way of life, at one with and abiding in God - not with any man made religion or doctrine. Everyone has the choice whether or not to accept this. That is why we know "Jesus is the way, truth, and life".

God is not an obsession, but a part of my life. I dont take God and the bible out once a week and pretend to be a Christian. God and the bible are with me 24/7/365. I go to Mass several times a week, not just on Sunday. I dont leave my house without God or my bible, they are a part of me as Iam a part of Him. To me God is first in my life and my husband and family come after. To leave God out of any part of my life would be like not breathing.

The reason we rely on God To Solve all our problems is because if God Cannot Solve them, who can?
I may not be able to prove God's Existance, but, I do believe that He Does, & I love Him because as Our Creator, God Is Our Father.
If a child decides to rebel against his/her parents, & have nothing to do with them ever after, who will the child ever turn to, if, for example, he/she ends up in trouble with the Law, or is unable to find employment or a place to live? They rejected their parents, & ultimately rejected any help from them whatsoever.
So it is when a person decides to ultimately, turn his/her back on the Father. It is their own decision to choose Hell. Not God's Decision.

I don't sit and wait for GOD to make things better for me in any way. I work my rear end off, and raise my girls to know GOD and have a deep understanding of what he is offering all of us. I rely on GOD for guiding me through this life, and pray to him to help me raise my children but I don't wait for him to do it. I work in harmony with my prayers. There is no sitting and waiting for any of us. It does not work that way. I think who ever you are referring to maybe you are misinformed. And if some spend more time serving their GOD they may be on a different level of faith than you, in a sense they have different goals than you do. Showing love for our Heavenly Father and for Jesus is a beautiful thing to do.
EDIT: Your comment to 1905 shows your immaturity with what GOD does for all of us. It seems as though it is not important to you. And to make fun of those who do have a strong sense of respect and love for GOD is very disrespectful. Being argumentative with someones faith is not a nice thing to do.
