Assuming you're car camping and a bbq or firepit is available, hot dogs on a skewer cooked over the fire is fun. If you want easy, non-cook, take cold cuts, sliced cheese, lettuce and tortillas and make wraps. A great snack is the classic Gorp, there are a million recipes, typically it is nuts, M&M's, dried fruits. Mix and mack. If you're doing a little more rugged camping, go to a camping store or WalMart in the sporting section and look for freeze dried foods. Mountain House is one of the more popular brands and isn't too bad tasting. They even have freeze-dried ice cream! Do a little research on the web, there are lots and lots of camping sites with recipes. Have fun! Oh and don't worry, everything tastes better when camping!

Hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. Another good side dish is... slice up some potatoes, thin, and add some bacon and butter. Put it in aluminum foil and place it over the fire. Need to stir it up every once and a while. When the potatoes and bacon are done, add your cheese and place it back on the fire til it melts.
One of our personal morning favorites is breakfast burritos. Just scramble the egg, fry up some sausage and warm up the tortillas. Add cheese or salsa or whatever you like.
I have found that I cut down on the snacks so much while camping because the kids are so busy playing, they never take the time to eat them.
Have fun! Wish the weather were nice here so that we could go camping.
Oh and banana peppers with cream cheese inside, wrap bacon around it and place over fire or grill. Cut the peppers in half though and make sure you keep it together with a toothpick.

Depends how long your going camping! Just overnight your going to need plenty of alcohol, lol jk.
Good things to take don't spoil, don't have excess packaging (repackage things if necessary), and are relatively lightweight. Generally the less preparation your food needs the better, also things like bread and crackers aren't good, with the exception of bagels.
Good ideas are those packages of tuna or salmon, peanut butter, trail mix, oatmeal, instant rice, soups, stuff like that. get your protein from nuts, your substance from bagels.

Chili and Stew where always good. Also hambugers and hot dogs work well. Fruit and trail mix. Pancakes and eggs and bacon easy to fix. Try to make meals simple which will give you more time to enjoy the outdoors. Also take bags of pre ppoped popcorn.

Steaks on the grill for dinner. We cook our potatoes in the camp fire coals wrapped in tin foil.
Breakfast is fried ham and egg sandwiches with cheese and mayo.
Lunch is hot dogs and potato chips and lots of lemon ice tea.
Man I can't wait to go camping this summer.

Grape Nuts (or a generic equivalent) and powdered milk. I road my bike 1500 miles cross country and ate a bowl of Grape Nuts every morning and one for lunch. Very boring, but very compact and nutritious.
You should have 75% carbs, 15% protein and 10%fat.
Trail mix is great. Make your own. And plenty of water.

canned tuna or chicken or beef stew nothing too salty, chocolate covered raisins or dried fruits, water, peanut butter, if you're taking chips get lays or fritos (the greasy kinds are great fire starters if the wood/kindling is damp) don't forget a can opener or a good strong bladed knife, toilet paper is a good idea too, small packets of ketchup/mustard/mayonasse... a little shaker full of your favorite spices... a first aid kit
