Can someone tell me why islam is a bad religion?

Setting aside the "death to all non believers" thing for a moment, they seem to be more interested in praying than living life. God did not give us life to be wasted in mindless prayer all the time, but so He could live life through us. Islam seems to BE their life, instead of being a GUIDE TO a good life. They're too fanatical in their beliefs, like nothing else in life matters but praying all the time.

More than anything, I want to comment on some of the other answers. There is nothing fundamentally Islamic or "extremely" Islamic about fascism or violence or self-righteousness. Any Muslim who would suggest otherwise is an ENEMY of God. Simply put they are either brainwashed or ignorant or liars or all three. The Holy Qur'an (THE unmitigated Word of God) very specifically forbids misogyny (disrespect of women), compulsion in religion (think head-gear ie hijabs, beards, Muslim {read: Arabic} names, violence {unless it is against an invader/predator} or believing that any one prophet is better or more important than another. Indeed, a VERY specific and common theme throughout the Holy Qur'an is the fact that ALL Religions are paths to salvation. But alas Islam is the one and only straight path. No need for deification of Prophets, idol worship, or any other kind of weirdness that typifies any and all of man's religions. And what has become of Islam is no exception (don't get your **** in a not, my Muslim bros and sisters!!!). It is the only religion that specifically forbids religious compulsion and the levels of compulsion within my faith approach the arena of mental illness. (just one example: I live in an area where the temp in summer can reach over 100 F, and I see women dressed in black gowns with everything covered including their eyes..and somehow they have come to believe that this is pleasing to Allah...if this is not compulsion, then I need a dictionary!!)). Islam is a way of life where the whole emphasis is placed on one's submission to the Holy Creator of the Universe. The all-loving, most gracious, forgiving Creator. And whoa to the woman or man who calls themselves a Muslim and says and/or teaches otherwise. May Allah have mercy on their souls! The God of all the Abrahamic (ie Jewish, Christian and Muslim) traditions places the utmost importance on the love in our hearts for our brothers and sisters and the ways in which we behave, especially when no one is looking!! God abhors the hypocrite
and those who try and pass off lies as the truth. May Allah have mercy on their souls!! It should very much be noted that by-and-large Muslims are a very kind and dignified bunch. Real class acts that must make God's heart swell. But like all faiths, people get collectively hoodwinked and duped along the way. But one thing that all Muslims can agree on (the only thing? *smile*) is that the Holy Qur'an is the unmitigated Word of God. And that Prophet Muhammad is the seal (last) of the prophets. Perhaps some of my more compulsively religious Muslim bros and sisters might be well served to actually learn about some of the other prophets by actually familiarizing themselves with Jewish Scripture and the Gospels (that means ALL the Gospels, not just the hand-picked, raped up Roman versions that you will find in the so-called New Testament!!) instead of just paying lip-service to God's instructions. I realize that these are ALL untrustworthy sources academic-wise, but one can certainly get a sense of the "shape of it all," which is really to the credit of God's inspiration. The Qur'an does command that the people of the Scriptures are ALL our special bros and sisters...just a thought.

It denies the truth about Jesus death and resurection as taught in the Bible.
It hold people in bondage and calls it Islam which means submission. This is especially true for women.
No Islamic country in the world has a functioning democracy.
Islamic majorities persecute other religions and kill any one who converts from Islam to another religion.
There are many decent Muslims and I count some of them as friends. But most of these are not serious Muslims. If they are serious and take the Quran seriously, they tend to turn into killers because that is what the Quran teaches.

One way to judge is by the way the prophet and his followers behaved and behave.

As to how to solve the present problem, the only way would be for Israel to defeat the Arabs overwhelmingly, and then dictate the terms for peace. Otherwise, the Arabs will never stop trying to destroy Israel.

It spread by threatening others into submission, just as it does today. Islam is a bad religion because it claims that the way to heaven is to follow a strict code of laws, and because no one has ever followed these laws perfectly and cannot pay off their own sins with their good works, there is no way to heaven for Islam.

It isn't the truth.
the Muslims say the Jews changed the bible. They didn't. We have the dead sea scrolls and archeology to show they didn't. They say Abraham almost killed Ishmael and not Isaac like it says in the bible. Why is this important? The Muslims are descendants of Ishmael and the Jews from Isaac. The line of salvation comes from Isaac NOT Ishmael. There are over 300 prophecies about Jesus in the Old Test that have come true. I have a list-e-mail me and I'll send it.
Muslims also deny the Holocaust happened!
Look for yourself and seek the truth.

Good and bad are relative terms that depend on one's set of values.

You will have to determine for yourself if any religion, or specific religous doctrines are good or bad for yourself.

The key thing here is to remember that these choices that you make are for yourself only, and do not apply to others.
