i have thick wavy heavy boring hair. Ive read that getting it layered can help it look thinner. is that true? And i want to get it straightened. Ive heard that ceramic straighteners are the best and chemically straightening it is bad for you but it lasts longer. which is the best say to go? I also want to dye my hair... i was thinking black and red. i saw a few pics of what looked like all black with the top layer red or something... what do you think would be the best way to do it?
oh and one more thing!
for whatever you said, what kind of style would you suggest?

my hair is the same i have really thick heavy wavy hair and layers worked out awesome it looks good but if your gonna get your hair thinned out DONT LET THEM USE A RAZOR it will give you split end. i usually just use a regular iron when i straighten my hair just make sure you condition it lots ... or it will dry out.
the dyeing red and black i Loved it when i did it but i did the top black and the underneath a red ... its really easy to do. and it looks great!

If you want your hair to be thinner just go to a salon and ask them to give you layers and thin it out as well. To thin it out they just take a pair of special scissors that will cut out small sections of hair. Don't get your hair chemically straightened though. A hair straightener is the best way to go, or you could blow dry your hair straight. If you're worried about it being bad for your hair, they have sprays to help keep the moisture in your hair when you're straightening or blow drying it. As far as dying your hair goes, I'd recommend getting a temporary dye first to see if you'll actually like how it'll look. Plus if you get black temporary dye it tends to take the longest to wash out of your hair anyway, so it'd be better than permanent. It's healthier for your hair as well. The style I would suggest with all the things you wanted done, would be to get your hair layered with some bangs in the front swept to the side. Then you could dye your hair black with the bottom half of your bangs being red.

I think black and red hair is awesome!, I was thinking of doing the same. I have thick hair also, it's cut to shoulder length with layers in the back and around my face. The person that cuts your hair will have to "THIN" it out with thinning shears, otherwise the layered cut will just make your hair puffy. Blow dry your hair straight and use a ceramic iron to make it extra straight , you will have to use a heat protector. I just bought some stuff that I really like... it's called BORED STRAIGHT by BEYOND THE ZONE, you can find it and other stuff at Sally Beauty Supply. Good Luck and have fun.
