Then I guess the child that died a week after it was born is going to spend eternity in hell.

apmresearch- So Jesus is not the only way to heaven?

wussupmang- I know exactly what they believe. I am just pointing out you cannot claim to have the "only" way and at the same time claim a free pass to kids. "Only" means no exceptions

I think you should have reminded them about the "original sin" clause in Christianity. Does that only apply after age 12?

Suzanne: I'm soooo glad to learn that David didn't go to hell. Exactly how do you know that?

I believe it is the uniform testimony of Scripture that those who are not capable of making a decision to receive Jesus Christ, and who have died, are now with Christ in heaven, resting in His tender arms, enjoying the sweetness of His love. There are numerous factors supporting this viewpoint.
It is highly revealing that in all the descriptions of Hell in the Bible, we NEVER read of infants or little children there. Only adults capable of making decisions are seen there. Nor do we read of infants and little children standing before the Great White Throne judgement, which is the judgement of the wicked dead and the precursor to the lake of fire (Rev 20:11-15). The complete silence of Scripture regarding the presence of infants in eternal torment militates against their being there.
Jesus and the children. As we examine instances in which Christ encountered children during His earthly ministry, it would seem that children have a special place in His kingdom. Jesus even said, "Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" (Mat 18:3) He also said, "Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me (verse 5). I don't think there is any way someone could read through Matthew 18 and conclude that it is within the realm of possibility that Jesus could damn such little ones to hell!

why do fundamentalists EVEN have children if there is the slightest chance of their kids spending eternity in eternal torment? It doesn't seem very bright on their part. Why not embrace sterility for everyone, thus making the number of people going to hell a finite number, and the dying out of the human species. (then God can start over)

So what happens to someone that is 11 years and 364 days old that just murdered someone and killed himself? Guess he gets a "Get out of Hell Free" pass. What a ridiculous suggestion.

To expand on this question, how about those people who have never been and never will be exposed to the bible regardless of age? If you are a so-called "believer" then you have to believe that those people go to hell. To say they do not means that you are not a true believer. So, I guess you would go to hell too?

Think about it. Don't waste your life away believing in something that is obviously not true.

That's why you should NOT be guessing. You should read the Bible. Babies do not go to hell. They go right back to God in Heaven. God creates everyone, we are all His children. God has a special place in His heart for children. No child who cannot make a conscious decision will go to hell.

If you read the bible you would know that's not true. When king David's child died, he said, "I go to be with him." The baby is unable to understand their choices and is not held accountable. Somehow I suspect this explanation isn't enough for you. You've chosen to reject Christ and you're only hear to poke at fundamentalist christians but you don't know what they believe as you've demonstrated here.

David did not go to heaven

Acts 2:34 - For David did not ascend into the heavens.

If you believe in Jesus, then you would look to Him for the answer to this auestion, and you would know that He will never turn away an innocent child.
If you do not believe in Jesus, why do you care what other people believe?

Children are innocent, they go to Heaven. Once they reach the age of accountability, then they need to be saved to go to Heaven.

Gratvol, in order to understand this subject, I must direct you back to your own Tahakh. Haven't you read that God Himself set what we call "the age of accountability" when the Jews wandered through the desert? Why would you think God would do it for your brethren, but not for us?

Numbers 14:26 And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 27 “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me. 28 Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the LORD, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: 29 The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, FROM TWENTY YEARS OLD AND ABOVE. 30 Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in. 31 BUT YOUR LITTLE ONES, WHOM YOU SAID WOULD BE VICTIMS, I WILL BRING IN, and they shall know the land which you have despised. 32 But as for you, your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness."

Also, remember the story of David and Bathsheba's first son, who died. David said he would go to his son, but his son would not return to him. Unless you think David went to what we call Hell (which he didn't), this is proof that innocent children go back to God.

EDIT: "L'Chaim," to answer your question, Christians believe that ALL "Old Testament" believers, who died in full faith of God, are in Heaven. Does this surprise you? If it does, then we haven't been communicating this point very effectively!

For "Keiichi," you have deliberately taken Acts 2:34 out of context. If you'd read the entirety of Peter's sermon carefully, you'd see he was speaking about David's prophetic gift and that his foreknowledge didn't come by ascending to Heaven. Peter is NOT disproving the fact that David ascended to Heaven following Christ's death. Read it again, please.
