He stated he will get the next shot at the title this summer or fall. I doubt he will do another tune up fight in the time in between. He is under contract for 2 or 3 more fights.

Before the GSP fight Hughes said he'd fight "about another year" and then retire. He then downplayed saying this and said, "probably three more years," a couple months later. If he loses the inevitable GSP rematch I think he'll retire. He really wants to live the farm boy lifestyle working from sunrise to sunset. If he wins, who knows? He'll be making $1 million or more from each match. It's hard to just walk away from that.

I dont see him retiring anytime soon. As much as I dislike Hughes and would liek to see him retire, I think he will be around a while longer. He has a huge fan base, he can still draw a huge crowd, and why would he walk away from the money? Even if he loses the rematch with GSP he will still be able to make a good amount of money fighting and why would you want to walk away from that even f you want to go back to the farm life. I dont see it happening yet.

I believe GSP has his number. As long as St. Pierre has the belt, it doesn't look good for Hughes to regain the championship. GSP exposed Hughes for wot he was, a one-dimensional fighter. Good wrestler who could take people down, push them to the fence, and ground-n-pound(unless provided with an easy oportunity to submit). Stand-up skills lacking and submission skills limited to the basics. That being said, i have enjoyed watching alot of his fights--particularly the second Carlos Newton and the second Frank Trigg.

GSP has said that he's going to eventually move up in weight. Hughes might hang around long enough to get the title back after he's gone, and then retire.
