I'm doing a project on the Savannah Biome...and I need facts.

What is man's impact?
Interesting facts.
And how is it spelled (Savannah, or Savanna)?

Thanks.

It is savanna. Great question. Here's what I've discovered doing research:

"A savanna is a hot, seasonally dry grassland with scattered trees. This environment is intermediate between a grassland and a forest. Savannas are located in the dry tropics and the subtropics, often bordering a rainforest. Savannas have an extended dry season and a rainy season.

"The animals that live in savannas have adapted to a great deal of variability in the food supply throughout the year; there are times of plenty (during and after the wet season) and times of almost no food or water (during the dry season). Many savanna animals migrate to deal with this problem.

"Savannas are located in Africa, Madagascar (an island off the east coast of Africa), Australia, South America, India, and the Myanmar-Thailand region of Southeast Asia."

That and alot more at this great link. I'll do more research and then edit this to add more information.

Edit: Two new links and a great quote pertaining to man's impact:

"Humans create savannas by burning the grasslands and felling the trees in order to plant crops."
