I'd like to find something that would help her to understand what Baptism is all about. Thank you!

OK, apparently I should have added that yes, she attends church and yes, she understands what baptism IS - I'm looking for something to study with her before the Baptism.

Matthew 20:20-23 is the obvious choice - Jesus baptizes kids. It's written in simple, clear, understandable language even in the KJV; a six-year-old could understand the following:

20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

The bible is clear, One must accept Jesus came here from heaven, is God's son and he died and rose from the dead.
One must also repent before Baptism-from sins-does your daughter have sins?
1) Mark 16:16 - He Who Believes and Is Baptized Will Be Saved.
2) Acts 2:38 - Repent and Be Baptized for the Remission of Sins.
3) Peter 3:21 - Baptism Saves Us.
4) Galatians 3:27 - We Are Baptized into Jesus.
5) Romans 6:3 - We Are Baptized into Jesus' Death.
6) Acts 22:16 - Be Baptized and Wash away Your Sins.
7) Mark 16:16 - He Who Believes and Is Baptized Will Be Saved
Most don't get baptized until the age of accountability, like 13 or so.
Pray about this.

If she doesn't understand, she shouldn't be doing it for the sake of doing it. Does she know sin? (1John 3:4) Does she understand that baptism is for the remission of sin? (Act 2:38) If not, then keep teaching her. She'll eventually understand and it'll mean more to her making her want to serve the Lord.

"And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." (Acts 8:36-37)

"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved" (Mark 16:16)

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..." (Acts 2:38)

Is she old enough to believe with all of her heart? Is she old enough to repent?

Both of these come before baptism in the New Testament.

Baptism is "for the remission of sins", "for the forgiveness of sins", "unto the remission of sins" or "so that your sins will be forgiven" (Acts 2:38) (depending on which translation you read)

"Sin is the transgression of the law." (1 John 3:4)

What law has she transgressed? Does she understand that she has sinned? Can one repent of sin if they don't understand that they are lost in sin?

Children are not born with the guilt of sin. Notice Ezekiel 18:20:

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

Children are innocent of sin until they reach an age where they are responsible for their own actions.

It is possible your daughter is at this age. If she is, she is more advanced in her understanding than most her age.

To come to Christ, however, is not a choice you can make for her. She must decide herself. She must have her own faith and desire to obey God. Then she can be "baptized into Christ" (Romans 6:3-4, Gal. 3:27).

For a six-year-old - this is the perfect Scripture:

Hear the words of the Gospel, written by St. Mark, in the tenth Chapter, at the thirteenth Verse.

THEY brought young children to Christ, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Matt. 18:3 "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ....."

Mk 10:14-15 "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell y ou the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

John 1:12 "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God ..... "

John 15:13, 14,17 "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command ...... This is my command: Love each other."

Baptism is God's adoption of us into his family to be children of God. We are part of his family and are protected by God as we are protected by our Mom and Dad, brothers and sisters.

Congratulations on her baptism!

If your daughter is getting baptized and doesn't know what baptism is, then she shouldn't get baptized. Plus, why should she be baptized because in the future, there's a chance she might not be religious.

You're baptising a 6-year-old? How could you!

By saying that you would like for her to find out what baptism is, you're saying that she doesn't know what she's doing. Shame on you!

psalms 137:9 really captures the attitude of the bible towards little children perfectly.
