Is a 1998 Ford Ranger a good car? Would you reccommend it? Any known problems or issues?

It has 83,000 miles. The guy is asking $3,000.00. Is that a smart move?

I would jump on it. I had a 98 Ranger and I loved mine. Never shoulda sold it. Mine had 2.3 4-banger and five speed, and it was gutless, but it was kinda fun to drive, and you can put 10 or 15 dollars worth of gas in 'em and drive all over God's creation. I gave 1500 for mine, and it was running like a new one. If you're wanting to tow anything heavier than a small boat, make sure to get a v-6, but if you just need to get from point a to point b, grab the four beater and enjoy passing all of the gas stations you see for three weeks at a time. I had to put front brakes on mine a week after I bought it, and I chose to change the oil in it just to be safe, and that's all the work I did on mine.

well My Husband has a Ford Ranger that has over hundred thousand Miles and it still runs Great and we have another Ford ranger with alot of miles on it and it still runs.Ford Rangers are known for running way and I meen way over hundred thousand miles.I would Try to get him Down a bit on the Price if I was you,maybe 2,500 is the Highest I would go.

What engine does it have? The 4 cylinder engine is fairly gutless but reliable and the manual transmission would be much suited for the motor.

The 3.0 Liter V6 is a reasonable performer and they are very reliable engines.

The 4.0 Liter V6 is a powerful and torquey engine and they are also durable engines, that is the engine I would recommend with 4WD.
