I remember those years! Take my advice: savor each moment, because as you get older, time seems to go by alot faster!

I remember feeling like that, but looking back, those were some of my best years. I'm 20 now, and would give almost anything to be just barely 18 again. I'm also from New Orleans, and the year I turned 18, Katrina hit, and I was suddenly living hours away from my family for the first time, and not by choice. (I had planned to live about a half-hour from them, so I could still go home when I wanted to.)
Now, I almost wish I was at home sometimes. I got a home-cooked meal most nights and didn't have to worry about rent, bills, groceries and gas (a real killer if there ever was one). Between work and class, I have less and less time for my friends and family.
I hope you learn to cherish this time. It's not that I want to move back home, but I appreciate what my parents did for me more now that I have to do it all for myself.

funny you asked this question. i couldn't wait till i turned 18 either, for i was in foster care and wanted out. but when i turned 18, life took an unexpected turn i was thrown out into a world i hardly known and was expected to be able to do everything. yes...we all think of turning 18 as a chance of freedom, but with the freedom comes major responsibility. i would enjoy what time you have, as hard as that sounds, for pretty soon youll be 18, then 19 then 20, which is where i am going on now. and i feel old!! like i am not doing enough with my life. so enjoy life as much as you can!!!

SLOW DOWN!!!!! Enjoy it while you can. Dear lord....PLEASE ENJOY IT!!! I am 30 years old, married and have 2 kids...one is 4 and the other is 9 months. I can only dream now what it's like to be able to do what I want as I want and when I want. But no, now my life is run by my job, my kids, and my loving husband and all the GREAT stuff that comes with getting older!!! If I could have stayed 20 forever I would have. Better yet....13, then I wouldn't have to pay for anything and not have to worry about making sure we have a roof over our heads and food in the fridge. I would love to be your age. It's not all what it's cracked up to be when you get older.

I know when I was your age I couldn't WAIT to be an adult. It's kind of a mixed bag. When you're older, you can mostly do whatever you want, obviously with restrictions. Much of the time it only SEEMS that you can do what you want, because you have responsibilities to others. That's what is great about the young adult years, usually you don't have kids yet, and you have an apartment so someone else takes care of the maintenance, and usually you don't have any severe health problems and your parents are young enough that they don't either. I remember my kid times as my absolute best and worst times, and it's like that for every adult I know (well, the best times, mostly, not usually the worst times). You won't ever forget, that's for sure!!

Don;t wish to grow so fast. Sometimes being an adult is not as fun as it seems. Enjoy your younger years and your teens. It can be the best time of your life. I know sometimes I wish I could go back and live my teen yrs over. It was filled with good times, friends, parties, etc. Before you know it you will wake some day and wonder where all the time has gone. Again enjoy being young!!!!

enjoy being young as long as you can. i used to hate when people told me that. and if you knew me, i could not wait until i grew up so i can be on my own and be my own boss. i would give anything to not have all of the responsibilites i have now. im 22 been married and divorced. i have a 3 year old and a new husband. life as an adult is stressfull. you wont feel that way when you turn 18 but you will when you feel 20 or so. i would give anything not to have to worry about how i will pay my car note or buy groceries. we make ends meet. but it is hard. my little girl tells me every day "i'm growing up more and more every day" and i just want to tell her STOP!!!!

I am only 20 and if I could go back even 3 years ago I would change so much, I had a child at 17 (I wouldn't trade him for the world) and I wish I could have just pushed pause. We go through our adolescence years to prepare us for adulthood. Enjoy it, you only live once, but remember you will have consequences for every action you take. You decide if they are good or bad:)
