I'm 16 and a sophmore in high school. I just started thinking about graduating a year early, for the following reasons:
1) I'm taking advanced classes. All of my friends are still taking Geometry and Earth Science while I'm in Chemistry and Trigonometry.
2) I don't like high school. I think I'm ready for a new challenge.
3) I worked out my credits and found out with a few classes over the summer, I would be completing my graduation requirements by early junior year. I don't see a reason for wasting my entire senior year just screwing off and taking unnecessary classes.
4) I don't have a girlfriend.. haha this may sound ridiculous.. but there's nothing really I'd be leaving behind.
Just wondering what you people think..?

Thanks for the help!

I think it's a bad idea. Here are my reasons:

1. If you graduate a year early, you'll be 17 for your entire freshman year. There's a big psychological leap between 17 and 18. Nearly everyone in college is 18 for at least some portion of their freshman year. It's a great deal of independence and a great deal of maturity that's required.

2. It also means that you will not be 21 when you are in college, which means you won't be able to legally drink at any point. You may not think this is a big deal now, but you might later.

3. Seriously, you only get to do this part of your life once. After you're done school, you're going to get a 9-5 for the rest of your life. Enjoy it. Take as much time as you like with it (within reason).

4. Taking advanced classes is one thing but I promise you that college classes are a LOT harder than high school classes.

5. Taking a few classes over the summer? Why? Enjoy your summer, or get a job, or do something besides school. Why do I say that? Because while you're in school, that's the last time that your summers aren't going to be devoted to the same things as the rest of the year.

If you really want it, go for it. But I don't think that it's a good idea

I think it's great. High school is mainly a huge waste of time. If you can get it over with, I say go for it.
