Before I say anything, I want to acknowledge that Speeding is wrong, and that I should have never done it in the first place. That being said..... I was recenty caught doing 90 in a 55 (a state highway where the traffic usually moves much faster than the posted limit). I did not realize that I was going that fast, as my car is new, and I can barely feel the speed difference.

Upon comming over a hill on the roadway, I noticed the marked car sitting off the roadway, which prompted me to slow down, which was sadly too late. He had me clocked via laser before I even saw him. I made the mistake of admitting that I was speeding, and said I wasnt sure how fast I was going. I recently moved from the city (Brooklyn) to LI.

My question is, the ticket has my Brooklyn address, which I no longer live at, but the correct plate info, etc. couldnt the office have listed my current address via my plates? can the ticket be tossed on this basis? I have a clean driving record to this point.

There was specific time listed on the ticket that I must show up at, just anytime in the next 15 days, is there a good time to go? Also, is it best that I plead guilty, and explain my situation?(clean record, etc.) Thanks for the answers in advance!

I live in suffolk county and i'm guessing you got stopped by a trooper cause you said state highway. Go to court and a few things can happen, 1st he can not show up twice and the ticket gets dropped anyway 2nd he can show up and you can request legal concil and delay the next hearing hoping he forgets and it gets dismissed 3rd you can plead guilty and if you have a clean license you'll probably get 15 over the limit instead of 30+ or 4th go head to head with the trooper and get romped. Go in try the incorrect information on the ticket story, if it doesn't work say you were going to a job interview I have a clean license I never drove like this before and I am truly sorry and plead guilty. The administrative judges appreciate honesty. Good luck in CI haha

The ticket won't be tossed for an old address if the license plate is yours. Here's a tip, though: don't automatically pay the fine, show up in court instead. Policemen have to appear in court on their own time and many blow off the court appearance. If your officer fails to show, the charge is dismissed. If he shows, you end up paying the fine anyway. Beware, though : going 35 mph over the speed limit will get you a stiff fine.
Welcome to Suffolk -- watch out for the troopers on the LIE and both east-west parkways (NS & SS). They're always there.

Just because you failed to update your address on your license will not get you off the hook and besides that in most states its illegal to use a license that has not been updated.two violations.good luck youll need it.
