I have a Schnauzer-JR cross.. i'm thinking of getting a dog to accompany him.. So shld i actually get a schnauzer/ JR, or is it safe to get another breed, such as yorkshire? Cuz my fren mentioned if crossed wrongly, the babies/mother are not going to normal and healthy... please advise!!! Thanks!!

Can a cross breed dog cross with another breed to have babies?

I'm not a breeder, who breed just to sell... The most is I will let them have their first batch of babies then i will have them spayed and neutered. SO is it the size problem or is it the genes problem??

it's the size issue. toy dogs have alot of trouble with giving birth. they only have a few puppies at a time, and most often require it to be a c-section at the vets. do not breed a toy dog unless you are experienced,and you have a vet on call ready to go if your dog gives birth in the middle of the night.
Why are you thinking of breeding anyway? If you are doing it for the money think again. Even with purebreeds a good breeder makes almost nothing, when you take into account the prenatal vet visits, vaccinations, feeding, cost of the actual birth. There are plenty of mixed breeds waiting in shelters to be adopted don't add more to the world, just so you can see a dog give birth, you can watch that on the animal planet. It's fine to have 2 dogs, but they should both be spayed and neutered, not to mention the health benefits of spaying and neutering (reduces cancer risk considerably)

Any dog *can* breed with any other dog,regardless of breed. But,if say, an english bulldog or something of the sort,(large,and wide boned) tried to breed with something with a small frame like a min pin, or italian greyhound, there may be complications within the birth canal when that little momma tries to give birth. Mutts are often healthier than purebred dogs,so that wouldn't be an issue, but there are literally 1000's of dogs dying in shelters everyday because people don't spay and neuter and carelessly breed their dogs. Make sure you have homes lined up for those puppies before you think of breeding. A responsible breeder would also take back any puppies at any point in their life if the owner could no longer care for the dog. Good luck!

If the dogs are both healthy... etc. cross breeds if you were to mix them would be called mutts, and would not sell for as much. if you really want to breed to get a accompany get the same breed of dog.

Cross breeds are just as good as purebreds. In fact mutts tend to be more healthier! Its safe to cross breed-just make sure the mother dog is big enough to carry the pups. Meaning the daddy dog isn't 1million times bigger then her. :-)

I wouldnt cross mix because if you already have amixed breed then you wouldnt want the puppies even mor mixed up. Also I dont think it is very healthy for the puppies or the mother.

If you just want a companion for your dog, why don't you get him neutered and get a spayed female? They'll both be a lot healthier and they can still fool around if they want to. There just won't be any puppies.

Please don't breed dogs if you have no idea about their genetic lineage. This is a terrible idea and can result in a litter that has severe genetic deformities. Not to mention that there are already many mixed breed dogs looking for homes.

It depends on the size and sturucter of the two dogs(the male and female).If the male is so much bigger than the female and the pups will be in trouble, b/c the pups will be to big for the female to have. but if the male and female are about the same size then it may be ok. Hope it helps.

Won't be a problem if your dog is spayed/neutered as it should be. Don't deliberately breed your dog, it is not a good idea.

Yes. But, you would have a weird breed...I have tried it. I mixed a Pur Bread AUSTRAILIAN SHEPARD FROM AUSSY!! And a normal blood hound and got defunkatated babies I'll tell ya what..Lol...But you can if you wanna...It don't matter...
