then why aren't people up in arms when the DEA breaks up families when one of the parents smokes pot?

Where are these feel gooders when the primary income for a family is lost when that person loses their job for smoking pot on the weekend?

I am really having a hard time feeling sorry for these families that are getting "split up" when they break the law but no one cares when it's our own citizens....

I agree it is still a case of seperating a child from its parent.

And to the person who said "Maybe because being illegal does not interfere with instilling good values on your children" should open their eyes. How can you instill good values on your children by breaking the law, by sneaking into a country illegally. All you are teaching your child is it is okay to break the law if you want to. How is that instilling good values? They are teaching their children it is okay to be a criminal as long as you feel you can justify your actions. It is not a good way to teach your child right from wrong. Parents lead by example.

Any illegal who is here in the U.S. always knew if they got caught they would be arrested, detained, and deported. And they knew this long before they decided to enter our Country illegally. They are the ones who put their children in jeapardy. They should face additional charges for putting a childs life in jeopardy. It was their crime that seperated them from their children.
If the illegals don't want to be seperated from their children then they need to quitely leave our Country the same way they snuck in. That is the only way they can be assured they will not be seperated from their children.
Take a look at those 3 illegal kids from Arizona. Their parents knew their children were being detained ,and they did nothing to help them. Why aren't there a flock of illegals crying for these kids? Who would not help their child? Who would let their children face deportation alone?, Who would abandon their children and not claim them? Well I will tell who, an ILLEGAL PARENT!
So all you crying illegals need to get the hell out of our Country now, before you too are seperated from your children. Because I am sick of tired of hearing about your law breaking lives, you people sicken me, you don't care about your kids, you will sacrafice them for your freedom, you are truly the scum of the earth!

I am in favor of enforcement of the law - no matter if a person smokes pot or an illegal with no regard for United States federal and state laws.

As to the children of illegals - if the parents are HONESTY wanting to be with their children - then the children should go with them. I have never heard of any that was deported being 'forced' to leave their children in the United States.

I have though heard of many that have been abandoned by parents - which the state then has to pick up the cost. They just had an article within the "Houston Chronicle" within the last week about it. They are TRYING to find the parents - but the parents and family members just don't seem to want to be found. Mexican gov. has been no help with the problem either.

I'm not upset over the families being broken up. They brought that upon themselves by agreeing to work in the sweatshops that were raided. If these "Families" think it's ok to cross the border illegally, and breed that is the major risk they will take.

I wish hospitals would break up families, when an illegal female comes in to give birth, ICE should be right there to take the baby, and deport the mother.

Haleiwa Bound ... Well, I have to agree with you. I think those that are tempted to illegally emigrate to any country might better serve their homeland and their families by not putting themselves at needless risk. Besides, what's wrong with them staying to fix the problems in their OWN homeland. We already have a generous immigration policy in America. Hundreds of thousands are legally admitted every year. I'm the first to admit that immigration paperwork is time-consuming and challenging, but that's an entirely different matter and can never be accepted as justification for entering any country illegally.

Like Joe Friday once said, "If you don't like the laws, change them ... You don't break them!"

Because there is no morality behind locking up someone who is doing pot. (this is how religion has affected us)
When a person's ‘being’ is being attacked, it is a moral issue.
I am by no means a religious person, and I wouldn’t like to see anyone’s family torn apart.

But, every society runs on rules and regulations. The rule is, if you cross the border illegally, you are a criminal.

There is no “object” to prosecute an illegal immigrant except for the fact that he is illegal. People’s compassion get the better of them and they fail to see what is what.

That is what I believe.

I don't feel sorry for these families that are getting broken up either. They knew it was a real possibility when they came here illegally. They are the ones that did it to their own family.

No one is above the constitution. These agencies are just doing what they should do. When you live right and abide by the laws of our country you dont have these problems.

ICE isn't breaking up families. The ILLEGAL aliens are breaking up their families. It is the ILLEGAL aliens fault for being here!

WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?
