When you "conocer" something, it means you have an initimate understanding of it or, if it is a place, it means you have been there. So in both these instances you are saying that you haven't been there, and therefore you would use the correct form of "conocer".

The first one is conozco. For the reason of you are not familiar with the city (as above person said).
The second one is sabemos because you do not know the language (as in how to speak it).
Saber is for knowledge, facts and how to do something.
