Decatur is a very progressive place to live. They have a very diverse population and accept everyone. Great stores. Dekalb Farmers market is great.

Theres many suburbs around Atlanta that are pretty inexpensive and have nice neighbourhoods. Personally I wouldnt live in Atlanta, or on the west side of Atlanta. Rockdale and Gwinette counties are growing rapidly and you can find houses at good prices, plus they are not too far from Atlanta. Keep in mind that even if you choose not to live in Atlanta, but in a smaller town, you'll pay more for a home thats closer to a towns core, than you would if you lived just outside of town.

Look for apartments Smryna, Sandy springs, Dunwooody, Vinings, Lower Mariatta, Cumberland mall area.
since i moved to GA from a major metropolitan city i did notice race DOES matter in the south.

Roswell, Marietta, and Kennesaw are some of the best and safest places to live in Metro Atlanta. If you can afford it try for the east cobb area.

It depends on your factors :age, kids, job etc.
I would live in Midtown maybe near Atlantic Station.

Are you african american? Live in Dekalb or Rockdale or Clayton County
Are you Gay? Live in downtown or Midtown
Are you White? Live in North Fulton or Forsyth County
Are you on drugs or a pan-handler? Live in downtown, near the tourist triangle
