My son is almost 1 1/2. Should I give him a pillow to sleep with yet? How about sheets and blankets? He just sleeps with his own personal blankie still. When did your child start using a pillow to sleep?

When you move him to the toddler bed is when you do pillows and sheets. My son is 22 months and still in the crib with just a blankie....hey, if it ain't broke, I ain't fixin' it! LOL! I'll move him around 2 years and that's when my ped said to do all this. Hope this helps!

My son is 16 months and he has this Nemo pillow, it looks pretty much like the stuffed animal, but it is actually considered a (baby safe) pillow. I put that in his bed a little after he was a year old and he loves it. I guess it makes me feel a little better to use a pillow like that at first, because it is smaller and won't fold over his face like a regular flat rectangular pillow would. Plus I figure he will get used to that and be able to adjust to a regular pillow better.

Wow, if your asking, I must be a terrible mother ! My kids slept with boppys as pillows from 6 months on. At 1 they got real pillows. They use big fuzzy fleece blankets. Sometimes comfortors if I have to change there bedding alot in a day or 2 (My daughter likes to take off her diaper every chance she gets!) They are 18 months now (twins) and they sleep like we do, and it works just fine!

I believe your doctor will tell you even adults should not sleep with a pillow. I am 71 and haven't slept with a pillow since I was 19. I do use them sometimes to watch T.V. and for other things.

from what ive read and been told at the dr a child can use these things at his or her first birthday, sometimes sooner, since its mostly the risk of sids that stops you from putting things inthe babys crib. my daughter is 18 months and has slept with a pillow and blanket for probably 10 months now, though she recently fell inlove with her boppy and uses that as a pillow now.
