I know EXACTLY how you feel. All I can suggest is while doing these things, float: don't think about the choreness of them, let your brain space out. And frankly forty pounds of "excess" weight is nothing. Do NOT go on a diet, just eat nutritious foods on a semi-regular schedule. Also drink water. I find it helpful to take baths instead of showers and talk to my self with the water running so no one can hear me. Go ahead and be crazy and unphysical. Some people are more mind oriented and some are more body oriented. Balance is best but if you lean one way fighting it only makes it worse. And do NOT think a doctor or shrink will help. If you say you are depressed you'll be given those hideous SSRI drugs that destroy your libido and have other icky side effects. They're pushed so hard they're turning America into sexless, soulless zombies. One final suggestion and I am totally serious. If you have a TV, get rid of it. There are no big bodied women on TV who are anything but "bad" in personality or there to be the butt of jokes. Throw that sucker off your roof or smash it with a hammer. You will feel better in a week.

This is a good question. The truth is, I've experienced this myself. You seem to have identified some answers of your own, like diet and excercise. The difficulty you are having with those things boils down to this: they seem like a chore, rather than a pleasurable experience. If you are to take up an excercise regiment, you have to make it fun. Walking is the very easiest excercise there is, yet it is some of the best. Why not listen to some music while walking for an hour every day? The walking will make you feel good, and the music will take your mind off of "life" for a little while; both good things. Diet is also CRITICAL to fighting depression, and I don't think this is emphasized nearly enough. Your body NEEDS nutrients in order to feel good, and nobody can deny this fact. Here's a solution that's worked GREAT for me: eat at least one banana every day. Bananas are high in tryptophan, an amino acid that the brain turns into serotonin. It's been proven that serotonin deficiency is common among almost all depressed people, as well as those with anxiety disorders. That's because serotonin is the chemical in your brain that gives you a sense of calmness and well-being. After doing some research, I've been eating one banana a day for over 3 weeks, and have been feeling better than I have in probably 6 or 7 years. And that's after being on Paxil for 4 years. I swear by this.....just try it, and at least give it a week or 2 for the serotonin levels to build up. If you're skeptical, Google "bananas and depression" and you can find out more about it. Try it!!!!!!!!

Maryjane, someone cares about you or they wouldn't be answering your call for help. From what you say, you are feeling depressed. It's something that we can all feel at times. Some of us are more affected than others, but you should know that help is available.
Depression is now thought of as a chemical imbalance of the brain, and is correctable through therapy. There are medications that you can take that may cause your depression to lift as though a weight has been removed from your shoulders.
You must also have what they call cognitive therapy. With this treatment you receive counseling from a therapist.
You are a person that has value. Please see your doctor for me.
I hope this helps :>)))

Sounds like you are depressed. All of your behavior is classic. Maybe you need to find a hobby or an activity that gives you new enthusiasm. It's easy to get in a funk when you don't feel there is anything worthwhile going on in your life.

You sound depressed and would talk to your doctor or therapist about this. I get like that sometimes, I just don't want to do anything. But what gets me out of it sometimes is I think of all the sick kids and my daughter, who has a heart defect and has come very close to death during her first open heart surgery. I think of her strength and courage and that gets me thru it........There is allways something ten times worse out there then what you are going thru. I think of stuff like that. I know it feels very dark and numb where you are now but it will get better. Good luck

I've been there before also. Try talking to God. He can help you. I'm not pushing God on you. I'm sorry if it seems that way. That's something I don't want to do. I'm just saying if you Talk to Him, and ask for His help, He can help you. He knows how you're feeling.
It's easy and doesn't take a whole lot of energy either.

It sounds like clinical depression; the pattern you describe is common. Go see a doctor as soon as you possibly can. There are medications and therapies available to help.

hey don't be so hard on yourself. try to do a exsercise schedule with friends or someone from your family. it may help and taking care of yourself is not a chore cleaning after people is. plus think of all the good that will come out of you taking good care of yourself. being healthy contributes to taking good care of yourself properly. that's why people spend all of this money to keep themselves looking good. plust talk to people about how you feel so you can get it all out and for someone to help you with your depression. you cat get help and you will be the best person from taking care of yourself. i promise you that.
