I was wondering how long it takes for accutane symptoms to occur? I just started it a few days ago but am kinda nervous about it. I have headaches all the time so I'm scared about the swelling of the brain part, cause a symptom of swelling of the brain is headaches. And also when using a moisturizer should I be using an oil free or just normal moisturizer?

I got some side-effects within 2-3 days. Weird, but I also did get small to medium headaches, but they went away about after a week. No worries, it will all be worth it!!

I was one of the "guinea pigs" for Accutane way back in the 70's. I had every side effect-the headaches will go away very quickly- give it about a week, If you have any other effects such as bone pain, nose bleeds, extreme fatigue, excessive hair loss or fingernail and toenail loss, Please talk to your doctor immediately. I started out on 175mg every day for 3 months and gradually reduced(protocol for the testing) The dermatologist usually recommends plain old Noxzema in the pump for a moisturizer, lots of lip balm and drinking from a straw for a while. You'll notice that week two gets a bit rough-all of the impurities and sebum come to the surface- it's worth it, though, no more acne and messy creams and scrubbing.

dont use anything on your face except for what the dermatologist recommends. And dont get tooooo worked up about the symptoms the only think i experienced was severely dry and cracked lips, they bled alot. So always carry a lip balm. Most accutane treatments last 6 months...and its 6 months of hell your skin will be worse than it has ever been before, and you cant put any makeup on to cover it up. So tough it out and hopefully your results are better than mine.
