Boston Terriers or Pugs. My parents have had them both for years (I grew up with them). They are small, have great personalities, and tend to be very tolerant and friendly with children.
If possible, it's nice to have them in pairs (siblings?). They keep eachother company if you have to be away from home, and they seem happier overall.

My personal favorite dog is the Golden Retriever but in your case you would prefer a small dog. Of course the behavior all depends on the dog one Golden Retriever could be an angel and the other a monster what people say is just an overview but thay dont know EVERY dogs temperment specifically. So do some research and go to trust worthy websites. Just make sur at first u keep an eye on the dog with the kids and gradually aquaint them. I hope this helped!!

Be careful with small dogs as they are the worst about "nipping" at small children/adults. I grew up with a boston terrier---good with kids and in the house. We had mixed small breed dog and the mixed ones do well usually. A lab is so smart and can do well in the house even though bigger but get very excited about playing and can be hard to calm down around kids. We have bassett hounds and they are a mid-size dog and very laid back---kids love them. and they love them back.

I have a pomeranian, she's a good dog. The 'gets along well with kids' is different with every dog. Every dog has a different personality. Try to get one from a shelter. They can usually tell you about the personality of the dog prior to you paying for the fees.

Feists are great inside dogs and great with kids..There are many more...but I have had experience with this one..I also have a boxer, pit mix,& lab/husky mix..but don't have small children anymore so can't say how they react with kids...although the dogs I do have get along great with everyone, they just aren't around any small children...so don't know how they would react..although they are tempered wonderful. Good Luck.

That narrows it down to about 30 dog breeds. I suggest doing some research online. There are several good dog books that give advice on picking the correct breed. Some other things you may want to consider are: how much they shed; propensity for health problems; how much they need to walked; whether they are known as yappy/barking dogs and how much grooming is necessary. Good luck.

I have a Boston Terrier, the are good with my kids. Make good little watch dogs also. Boxer's also make good inside dogs, even though they are larger dogs, and are very good with children.

get a COCKAPOO! (mix between a cocker spaniel and a poodle) they are AMAZING with kids and barely shed. the females are tiny, average is 12 inches. they don't bark alot and are REALLY smart and easy to train. They are loyal, and have lengthy lives.
Many people think mixed dogs (aka "designer" dogs) are just a fad, but actually make really good pets.
hope you find a great pup!

small dogs stink with kids for the most part. I've tried this. How small are you talking like pomeranian small or maybe a female lab they are more mid-size but are excellent with kids
