You probably don't need to go to the emergency room like other people keep suggesting, and please, please, do not call an ambulance (that is for people who are dying or have no other way to make it to the hospital). However, if there is an urgent care center (most hospitals have one) in your area, I would suggest you call a friend or relative to take you there sometime today (it's cheaper and you really don't need to be getting in the way of all those people who really do need the emergency room)... If you don't have anyone to get a ride from or there is no urgent care center near you, most doctors will be able to take you in the next day for something like this. Seeing as tomorrow is Monday, they will probably be able to get you in, especially if you are already a patient.
Until you get into a doctor's office of some sort, use some of these peoples' suggestions... most of them are pretty good. Ice, of course, and if you don't have ice, use frozen vegetables or a cold wet towel will do until you can find something that is actually frozen. But, get off the ankle. Walking on it will only cause it to swell more when you finally do sit down. And keep it elevated. If you have a reclining chair that works the best. Keeping your ankle at the same level as your thighs when you are sitting will work best.
Don't do anything too drastic, it's not that big of a deal. But do get to a doctor soon! Sprains can lead to more serious problems, but not always.
Hope this helps!

If you can, please try to get to an emergency room asap! Call a friend or 911. If there is a broken bone or a torn ligament you need medical attention. It may be a mild sprain though very painful. While you are waiting to get medical assistance if you don't have a bag of ice, do you have a package of frozen peas or corn in your freezer. This will work just as well! If all comes to all run a towel or two under the coldest water you can get out of your refrigerator or tap and rinse them and wring them out. Sort of ball them up and put on the swollen area - does the job but short term. See a doctor. Good luck!

if you twisted it so bad you should go sit down and so home and put ice on it and wear an ankle brace. i know all this is definitely NOT reducing the affects of it but TRUST ME. okay. i play softball and i BROKE my ankle about a month ago and i had to have surgury and everything. but dont tell me "oh if it was broken i would not be able to walk on it" because yes you can. i walked over to the dugout and to the coach and back to the dugout. so you should not worry about reducing the affects you should worry about making sure your ankle is okay and giving it time to heal before you play on it again. maybe a day or so.
GOOD LUCK HUNN ♥

lol my gf had exactly the same thing happen to her playing Bball about 2 days ago... anyway why dont you go ask for help...just keep walking till you get to a 711 and get some ice or you can call 911 and go to the Hospital... those are just some suggestions... but if you are in a place where there is a computer, chances are there is a phone around or someone to ask for help... or a freezer... cold veggies work good :)

u should seek med attn asap! i think the wieght feel most comfortable because it is bringing traction to your ankle, which means you need to go to the E.R. now. It does not sound like a fracture because you can still move it. maybe you have a strain or a sprain. a strain is an over extention of the flection in your ankle and or excessive physical effort. this usually happens with muscle tissue and a sprain usually occirs with muscle, ligaments, tendons, or joints. Swelling and discoloration are common in sprains. sounds like one of the two.

Take an Ibuprofen and CALL AN AMBULANCE.
It might be a serious sprain, in which case trying to "walk it off" could make it worse. Trust me, my stubborn friend tried to run on her twisted ankle even though I told her not to, and she caused permanent damage to her joints.

I would call a doctor or search the Internet with keywords that would get you an answer. I'm very sure the answer is out there and should be very easy to get.

take a dish towel and soak it in cold water and wrap your ankle. If it was real bad you wouldn't be able to put weight on it, so you will be alright.
