So, I've determined showering at night helps my curly hair, however, what is the best method to secure my hair at night? My friend wears hers in a scrunchy on top of her head, but I find this straightens the underside of my hair. Any suggestions are welcomed. With humidity so high this time of year, I certainly need all the help I can get!

;)

thanks so much for all the feedback. I also visited a website, www.ouidad.com and there was a wealth of info on how to style curly hair, but still no real tips on how to sleep with curly hair. hey, maybe this is why i am an isomniac??? Ha, I bet that is a whole different question, right?

-Read the book and visit the site below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!
-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent. They dry out curly hair.
- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. It is also important to use gel on wet hair and scrunch the hair. Then let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer with a diffuser.
- I really like the garnier fructis products. Aussie products works great too, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the website.
- It is alot easier to wash curly hair at night. Try wearing your hair up in a microfiber hair turban during the night- the website explains about these. It's basically a towel for your hair that will stay up because you secure it with an elastic band. Your curls will come out beautiful in the morning.

Ebay- http://search.ebay.com/microfiber-hair-turban_W0QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfromZR10
-This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least the website. Good luck!

There are a couple of choices, here. One: Scrunch your hair while it is wet - allow it to dry - gather it at nape of neck while twisting a pony tail - clip the twisted tail to top of your head with large barrette-- In the a.m. = untwist and apply a smidge (key word being smidge) of a product like AVEDA 'brilliant' universal styling creme (reduces frizz, defines curl, adds shine). You may also try Herbal Essences Mousse for curls and control (shouldn't be too stiff if you only use a small amount); I have had the best experience with AVEDA's 'brilliant.' When you use the hair product, add tiny bit to palm of one hand -rub your hands together and add it to your hair using "scrunching method."

OR, you could wash your hair at night, scrunch curl, allow your hair to dry and put it in two braids. Then, unbraid hair in the morning -put some water in your hands and scrunch your curl again -- finish getting ready, allowing hair to dry and apply the hair product as per initial suggestion. Good Luck! :)

Making 4 sections by parting it ear to ear and down the center to the nape of your neck, take a section and twist it and wrap it around into circle, pin it with a few bobby pins enough to keep it secure while you sleep. Do this to each section. If you have thicker hair you may have to do more sections so it will dry.
Hope this works for you!

just wear the top half of your hair up in a scrunchie so the under part of it doesnt get straightened and pulled up into it. leave the lower half down when you sleep or put it in curlers

My hair also looks better if I wash it at night. I just leave it down to sleep and sprtiz it with water or a leave in conditioner like Infusium in the AM to revive it.

Well, that's the reason I wash my hair in the morning!!! haha what a coincidence. I know, my hair is always straight after it's in a bun or braid. I think you should really just get some moose and wash it in the morning. I really need to think what answers you get cause i was just thinking about that too the other night! haha thanks so much~isa B-)

I suggest you speak to a beautician and she will suggest what you need for your hair. My hairdresser hasn't failed me yet and I've been seeing her for close to 33 yrs.
