hi im 16 a boy and i have dirty blond hair i want to dye it black with red tips because i think it looks good but they refuse im not going emo/goth i just like the way it looks but my dad says no cause its girly to dye your hair and mom cause its "wrong to change what god has given you" i dont belive either. i even offerd to get wash out so they could see how it would look but no still. they dont even let me have on black shirt w/ black pants what to do?

I think your parents are being rather harsh with the limits on how much black you can wear at one time and with your hairstyle choices.
If you are not already out in the work world, you will be soon and a lot of times you cannot wear your hair the way you want and still get a job. You have one chance to be young and have some freedom.
Talk with them again. How about suggesting a compromise on the hair as a way to maybe get the permission you want.

Your parents probably just want you to have a clean presentable look to yourself. A lot of kids do what they want and don't realize that sometimes thatt kind of stuff doesnt look too good. People, whether we like it or not, judge us by the way we look, your parents probably just don't want people to label you and think your a bad kid. Maybe you guys can compromise, not go all the way black, or just do the tips alone.

If you dye your hair, you dye your hair. But just FYI, once you dye your hair black - it's black. You're pretty much stuck with it until it grows out. You can go to a salon and try to get them to lift or remove the color - but you're hair wouldn't be anywhere near your original color (which might not matter). But, just so you know.

Your parents are right, sorry, its not what you want to hear. But, these people have to walk around with you. I know if you were my kid, i'd tell you the same thing. while living at home, you reflect your parents. Understand they just want whats best for you and them. I had some hairdon'ts that I thought were cool back in the early 90's. trust me, you don't want to look back at your hair looking like that, your future with and kids will think you were retarded.

I like the way the voting is going on this question. Gives me a new found faith in the younger generation. You may think your parents are as you put it "ignorant". But, you are living in their house, under their roof, they feed and clothe you. You follow THEIR rules until you can support yourself and are out on your own and realize that just maybe, they aren't a "ignorant" as their ahole son thinks they are.

They are your parents and there's not anything you can do until you are 18. Once you are in college you will be free to experiment. However if your folks are too strict to even let you wear black clothes, it's best to just not rock the boat.

Obey them. They are your parents. They are probably afraid if you look like a freak you'll start acting the part. You'll be 18 soon enough. Live by their rules until your out on your own.

Hun, go buy some box dye and do it behind their back. I'm 16 too. I dyed my hair black...they got mad, but I just told them, "It's not like I was out robbing stores or doing drugs like most people my age are...I just dyed my hair!" They got over it. It's not like they can change the colour, most they can do is ground your for a bit.
Get a friend to help you dying your hair...or go to a salon. Either way just don't tell them! My boyfriend has black hair...it's hot.
And its not gay to dye your hair...ummm look at rock stars they dye their hair. Black is a popular colour for guys. I mean if you were bleaching it golden blonde or some colour like that...yes. Gay. Black = cool.

tell them it is your life and run away j/p but just tell them that you need to be your self and if you dont think it will look good on you then you can dye it back
