I planned my best friend's bridal shower last May. We did a honeymoon theme. The invitations had a tropical theme with a cute saying stating that it's a honeymoon themed bridal shower and that it's a surprise. Then, the favors were silver (color, not metal) airplane shaped luggage tags. Attached to the luggage tags were personalized cards with flip flops on them (to go with the honeymoon theme) that had a cute saying on them. They were tied to the favors with yellow ribbons (the color of her bridesmaid dress) that said "_________'s Bridal Shower" on one side and the date of her shower on the other. The centerpieces on the table were stand up pineapples, palm trees or other tropical themed table toppers. I had plastic leis in the center of the table (enough for each guest) and a fabric lei for the bride. We had a "Honeymoon" banner hanging up over the food station, as well. We had some games like bridal shower bingo (where each guest gets a list of gifts off the bride's registry and they fill in bingo boards, as the bride opens her gifts, the guests mark off the gifts on their boards, and the first person to get bingo wins a prize) as well as bridal shower word scramble (using words like bride, honeymoon, marriage license, ceremony, reception, and other wedding words). I've also heard of bridal games like crossword, toilet paper wedding dress (where the guests get in groups, take a roll of toilet paper and wrap one person in a "toilet paper wedding dress") and other cute things like that.
Have fun!

I did my sisters bridal shower & I did a "open door" shower. We had it from 2pm-4pm & it was come when you want & leave when you want. The food was out for when anyone wanted to eat it & she opened up gifts. We had chairs around so people could sit & watch if they wanted.
My shower is going to be a theme. I decided on Tropics & on the invitation I'll have t hat they need to wear a hawaii shirt or something of that nature. But I am having my shower with my fiance'. We are doing it together & it'll be kinda a shower along with a engagement party.

I found that 'kitchen' bridal showers are often fun. Each guest brings one of their favorite recipes, the main dish that it is served or prepared in, and the main non-perishable ingredients. Not every new bride is a great cook, but if you share with her one of your tried and true recipes, it will make life a little easier. Heck, the groom might even appreciate it too!

I am a guy and may not know much about this, but if you have a big shower, say 50 people, do not put them in your house or cramped rented hall. Find a nice inexpensive banquet hall and this way its a bit elegant without being cheap. These people are bringing gifts, dont insult them or else you will get smaller gifts at the wedding!

I recently went to a friend's bridal shower where we were divided into groups and given one roll of toilet paper. She was sent out, and we were required to "design" a wedding dress for her with the toilet paper on one person in our group. We were given a time limit, and when we were done, she came back in and judged us as she would at a fashion pagaent. Her favourite dress won the group small prizes. If you're worried about prizes, just say they get the first slices of cake!

The best and most fun kind of showers are the casual type ones. Have it at someone's home, all the ladies get together for games, lots of talking and laughing, opening of gifts, and then a little lunch and desserts.

We did a Pampered Chef Party for on shower I went to. At the end each guest bought something and that gave it to the bride-to-be. It was fun, and didn't take much planning. The Pampered Chef Hostess took care of everything.

i like the idea of going to a paint your own pottery studio, and each person can make the bride a piece of pottery to remember the day by, they make great casual table wear, and are a real conversation piece
