Sorry, I forgot to mention my puppy has been receiving medical care, the conservatitive way. I've been taking her in 2x a day for fluids, injections etc. then bringing her home. She is over her kennel cough now and the vet gave me injections to administer to her since today is Sunday and they are closed. Tomorrow I take her back for them to check her and get the last doses. Her eyes are a bit brighter today and she is a little more steady on her feet. Please don't think I am cruel by not hospitalizing her. I could not afford what they wanted and I had just adopted her a few days before so no real emotional attachment. I am doing the very best I can for her and even turned down temp work to stay home to care for this puppy.

I adopted the pup at the animal shelter. The Vet isn't charging office visits and personally, I feel the city should pick up the entire tab but the Vet said they wont.

giving the dog regular gatorade or pedialyte will help on preventing dehydration also. If the dog is acting better keep doing what you are doing. When it starts eating feed a bland diet like boiled chicken and rice or boiled hamburger and rice. Not white rice but brown rice. It stomach will be sensitive so a bland diet will be the best. Good luck and I wish you the best. You are doing a good job. Least you are seeking the advice and help of the vet even though you are doing this at home. Good for you.

Where did you adopt this puppy from? If you contact them they may be able to (at the least) help you with medical expenses for the pup. Too bad you had to get a sick puppy, but it sounds like you are doing all you can do for her. Most would probably put her down instead of trying to help her.

I hope your pup gets better soon.

Good Luck

I agree wtih Riverchic's answer. My son had a lab that had the parvo shots but they were not given by a vet but by someone who got them from a farming store, so he had parvo. Because my son immediately recognized that something was wrong he got him in to the vet and ti was caught early on. He is doing fine and is now 1 1/2 years old and doing fine. Good luck.

You are such a very good person and care about his pup so much. I wish I could tell you what you so desperately want to hear.
I think your doing the right thing with the pup and if she seems to be responding the just keep the faith and I'm going to say a prayer for the both of you.
God Bless.

My dog contracted Parvo when she was a puppy. I took her to the vets & they gave her an antibiotic shot to fight off a secondary infection & sent me home telling me she would probably die. I loved her & wanted to do everything in my power to try to save her. since she was vomiting & had really bad diarrea, I was scared she was going to waste away from dehydration, ect. so this is what I did - I took the clear, non-flavored children's Pedialyte, mixed it with chicken baby food (the kind you feed to REALLY SMALL babies), put in a syringe & force fed her constatntly. She pulled thru & is now 6 years old. I know another person that did this for their dog & their dog survived. Good luck.

My domestic dog had parvo while we first have been given him. We stored him on the vet and enable them to look after him. We visited daily and we cheered him on, performed with him, petted him for the longest time, talked to him and stayed by utilising his facet. He grew as much as be 14 years previous. He became the superb dogs I truly have ever had.

You are giving her treatment that is what is important thing. Don't listen to the person that said the puppy can die. I had a dog when I was younger who had parvo and she survived. With love and dedication she can make it.

dont listen to austin- what an insensitive kid. parvo and kennel cough is a bad sign that it could be distemper. ***you can treat this at home with more success that at a vet.***
*please* email me for a good protocol to follow!!!! dont give up on her!!!
