Even if the meaning is clearly the same I don't think that "pondere" can be translated with 'oppression'

the hidden part, that your conscious is not aware of. Like when you look at something and get a bad feeling about it. In the back of your head you know why but to your conscious mind you just think "stay away" but your sub conscious is thinking like.. stay away from that dog because a dog barked in my face when I was 5 and scared me to death, I thought it was going to eat me.. and that's how you get phobias lol.
