When you back up, you are suppose to put your data on another hard drive or computer. If you left it on the same computer/hard drive, its gone. Probably the only way you can recover your data is to take it to some special company that specializes in data recovery (costs a lot and is not recommended unless the data is REALLY important). Just treat this as a learning experience.

You need to restore your system otherwise impossible. Use System Restore and restore dates will appear. Select the date before the computer crashed. All of the files you lost after recovery will be restored to its original location.

Check this out, I personally have had good luck with these file recovery programs. Once I was able to restore files from a previous Windows installation, which was three formats previous.

You can't. Hope you backed up every thing of importance to CD. Some computer shops can recover lost files but its expensive. If you backed up to CD's just reinstall.
Hope this helps

When you use your recovery disc, it warns you that you will be erasing everything and putting your computer back to the factory setting. I'm really curious why you didn't try the Windows Restore (to an earlier date). I think you lost it all......

If you used your recovery CD's, then your machine was formatted and wiped clean before the install process started.

Any and all files that were on there are now gone.

Do you have system restore on your machine. That's all I can think of, but then it might crash again. I don't know, I'm not a geek. Good luck.
