Australian citizenship?

I am a US citizen is it possible to try to become an Australian citizen without giving up my US citizenship? Nothing against my country I just read how some of our citizen are holding citizenship in other allied countries but still retain their American citizenship I want to do it mostly for cultural purposes and also since its a common wealth like Canada with English as their main language but excepts I like the warm climate.

People from UK who take out Australian Citizenship become dual nationals. To lose Brit citizenship one has to deliberately renounce it.
