He may have found someone that cares for him more than you do. Bring him inside 100% of the time and the problem will be solved. It's iresponsible to let them out anyway, so you'll be lengthening his life, prevent diseases, and not allow him to be tortured, poisoned, maimed, or killed by something.

I have had the same cat for 19 years and she is also an outdoor/indoor cat. When it rains, she hides under a plant or a deck and she comes inside dry too. She also likes to hunt sometimes and she never responds to being called in (at night). To make sure your cat is going somewhere else try shaking cat food to see if she comes running to you.
If she is going to someone else's home constantly, they are just being a good person. No one maliciously feeds and cares for a cat. They may think she has been abandon and they take her in sometimes or feed her out of kindness. They also may have kids who are secretly feeding her, but what is most common is that she has found another cat that peaks her interest, in which case, she would not return home when called.

hmm well actually cats are very smart, and being that they hate to get wet they usually find shelter very quickly, be it under a parked car, a bush and so forth. And as far and the feeding could be he's a good little hunter and so he's hunting birds/mice/other critters you didn't state if your cat is neutered or not, most cats have a "territory" that they explore, he may not here you and its not uncommon for them to not make their "curfew". So my thought is unless you see your cat with a new color, or coming out of someone elses house, I think he's just being a normal cat. Hope that helps

i think you should keep him indoors. buy a cage which is big and comfortable enough for him to walk around and climb. only let him outside when someone can watch over him. let your cat play around or do his business for an hour or so in your backyard then him take back inside. at night just let him loose inside the house, just make sure that all the doors and windows are closed and locked. my cat can easily open a window if its unlocked. good luck with your cat.

This happens with my kitty too. I think that your suggestion is highly possible. You should maybe put up flyer's of your cat to let the person know that the cat is owned. Kind of the same thing happened. I found a cat last summer and I tamed her. She is now the nicest cat I have ever met. I hope that your cat will be alright, and the best of blessings.

I took in a cat years ago who showed up at my door. I fed him, took care of him, and considered him to be my cat. Then through talking to my neighbors, I found out he had three other "owners", three other names, and was living quite the life. Later a new neighbor moved in and he adopted her too. It's not uncommon for indoor/outdoor cats to become sort of neighborhood cats. If you want to make sure he's staying safe and not in danger crossing streets, you should probably consider making him strictly an indoor cat. He's not going to be happy about it though.

Is he neutered? He could be out tomcatting and they will stay away as long as it takes. Cats are domesticated animals, they were tamed so they could live inside with people. It is safer to keep him! If you think someone could take him in and feed him then someone could take him in and poison him, it does happen.
domesticated: animals which humans have tamed over many years, to be kept in captivity

He could also just be sleeping under a house or some other dry location.
