My dad is in his 70's. This morning he complained that his feet were hurting, now he is in so much pain and cant even walk but refuses to go to the ER. His feet are hurting him so badly that he cant even put a sheet over them. The last time he had a problem similar to this he went in for blood work and ended up having emerg. triple bypass. I am worried. Other than that my dad health is pretty good for his age. Not many problems besides common colds and such. Anyone out there have any ideas on why this is happening? He hasn't been on his feet more than usual either...

HE HAS NO SWELLING OR REDNESS IN HIS FEET EITHER, THAT IS WHAT MAKES ME THINK IT ISN'T GOUT.

I have to agree that gout is a possibility. Also, since he's having so much lower extremity pain he could be having some very serious arterial or venous flow problems. He needs to be at a hospital asap.

Sounds like he may have gout. Gout is very painful and comes on suddenly. When you have gout it is sometimes so painful that you cannot touch the feet let alone walk on them. Gout can be treated by medication.

If it was only one foot, I would think it was a blood clot. I don't know if he would have one in each foot though. Has he ever had gout? He definately needs to get to a dr. Good luck!
