Yes, they were L-39's flown by the airshow jet aerobatics team, "The Patriots" based in Byron California. Tea leader is Randy Howell who was also the creator of the Smirnoff MiG team flying MiG-17 aircraft.

There were six L39's used altogether, the other two were flown by members of the USJet team based in Pennsylvania

It is a great ad, in forming the "globe" for Cingular the pilots were subjected to a sustained 9 G's...
