If you have to choose, seriously, I'd go with Japan. Hawaii is so f-ing over rated and a waste of money. Everything there is expensive as hell, the locals hate on ya, if you wanna go to another island, it'll cost ya PLENTY. I've been to Hawaii once and man once was enough. I've also been to Japan too and had a good time. Plus, most of my friends who have been to both, say that for a guy, Japan is totally worth your time and $$$. Hawaii is more for tourists who wanna blow $$$$.

I would choose Japan, mostly because it's probably different from anywhere else you've been. And isn't that the point of this trip? Especially if it's paid for....

I live in Hawaii, and I don't think there are many things that make this place that different from most other places in the U.S. Wait....you're from the U.S., aren't you? Anyways, we have our unique people and different cultures, but I'm not sure you'd be able to really get to see any of that in such a short amount of time.

Japan is just.....different. I'd pick Japan 10 out of 10 times. Then again, all I know is Hawaii, so I could be biased.

I would choose Hawaii every day of the week and twice on Tuesday.

Depending on where you would go in Japan, you need to fully understand the words population density. Other than everything being expensive and written in foreign characters, most of Japan is just like any other place you might visit.

Go to Japan. It's a much different cultural experience. If you go to Hawaii, you'll end up in some super touristy area that doesn't have real Hawaii culture. Not only that, but there are so many japanese people there, tourist and local, that you might as well go to Japan for realy Japanese culture.

I would love to go to Japan, but I think a month would be too long so I would choose Hawaii.

If you go to Japan you can still see the sites there. PLus if you go to the southern islands of Japan, they look like Hawaii. They have 300 variety of Hibisuc flowers. There are beaches and coral reef. get the best of both worlds that way. Those islands are called Taketomi and Ishigaki.

I would spend 2 weeks in Hawaii, then 2 weeks in Japan. Enjoy your vacation. I live in Hawaii, and my wife is from Japan, so we go to Japan to see her Mom, and I love Japan, especially Hokkaido, as it is in northern Japan, and wow what a beautiful place.Take advantage of the free offer, and do both, if you can........ It is well woth it. Enjoy............

I think you should go to Oahu or Maui over Hawai'i. But if it were up to me, I'd be going to Europe!

I live in Maui, and this is my thought on the islands:

I live in Maui, and I have to say I think you will like it much more. It is very small, but there is a lot more to see than on Hawai'i a.k.a."the big island".

•HAWAI'I has controlled erupting volcanoes. It isn't good to breathe all the vog though. It is the biggest island, but it doesn't have much. You are lucky that there is a Walmart there! It is mostly dried up lava taking up all of the area.

• OAHU is very nice, it is my favorite island, it is smaller than Maui, but busier than Maui. There are bunches of stores, and a 4 story mall! [Ala Moana Center] It is very nice if you love the city. ..but once again, it is very busy.

• Maui is very beautiful, it is not to small, and not to big. The only place you can see the sunrise is on Haleakala [House of the Sun] -which is a mountain. Our three biggest stores are Walmart and K-mart, and Costco. We have a Safeway an Starmarket also. Costco and K-mart are right next to the Kahului airport, which is quite convientent. We also have waterfalls, in Hana. But make sure you get up early, it's a long drive.

I would take Japan! I'm sure it's more expensive to go there for a month, and would probably never make it there for so long any other way.
