Single most important thing is a sense of humor. Not class-clown, center-of-attention-constantly humor, but being able to find the humor in the situation.
That has been one of the main keys to my husband and I being married for 15+ years, together for almost 18. No matter what he is always able to make me smile and laugh. Yes, even when he's the one I'm mad at. :)

Honesty and a sense of humor. These are two very important characters in a man. Another trait that I find attractive are men who act like gentlemen......holding the door, waiting for the girl to get into her house before driving away, etc. Sounds old fashioned but I find it quite impressive!

I watch how men act with pets (cats, dogs). If they are gentle and caring, and attentive, that says a LOT to me. People who treat the most defenseless well are, to me, the most attractive. As a corrolary, there is a high correlation between psychopaths and people who abuse animals.
