How do you change your main media player?

I have many different ones and everytime I get a new one and install it, it changes it into my main one. I want to change it back into another player...how do I do that?

Right mouse button click on a media file and click on OPEN WITH...... select your media player (it should appear on a list) and then make sure the box is checked that says "always use this to open this type of file"..

I assume that you mean your "main media player" is the one that opens when you double click a media file? If that is the case, after installing a new media player you may have to reset some of your File Associations by double clicking My Computer --> Tools --> Folder Options --> File Types. Look down the list of file extensions for, say .wmv, and have a look which media player is set to open the file. If is not the one you want, click on "Change" and select another from the list provided.

In windows XP:
Right click the media you want to change the player of (example: any .avi)
Click the option "Open with"
Select the player from the list that you want to be default or click the button near the bottom to find one not on the list
Check the "Always use the program to open this kind of file" box
Click ok.

Most of the good media players will change the defaults for you. E.g., if you start QuickTime and hit Edit -> Preferences -> QuickTime Preferences, then hit the File Types tab, it lets you select which file types will be associated with QuickTime. What is the media player you want to use?

Right click on the Music file you want to open and choose Open with / Choose program. Find the program you want in the list, or brows to it if needed - then check the box near the bottom that says Always use the selected program...Thats it!

right click on a media file one time ,,on the dropdown menu click OPENWITH...when the box opens highlight the player you want to use ,and at the bottom check the box that says ALWAS USE THIS PROGRAM TO OPEN THIS TYPE OF FILE,,,then press APPLY,,,pressOk Then exit

go to the control panel and click add remove prograns...on the side click the set program access and defalts tab...click the down arrow next to custom on the screen that pops up...scroll down and you should see the option to change the media player default
