of course dogs have feelings. theyre a lot smarter than you think. dogs do get sad when their owners leave b/c they have no concept of time and theyre afraid their owners will never come back...also, have you ever tried to take a puppy away from its mother too soon? i had a friend that did that and the mom was so upset that she cried for 2 days and then died. dogs do have feelings...ive even seen them get jealous. my aunt had her first child and when the dog realized she wasnt number one anymore she became jealous. i have seen plenty of situations where they have feelings.

Dogs can absolutely have feelings. I realized this the most when my dog had spent a week at a friends house with his 2 dogs. They were playing all the time and he was having so much fun.
The day after I took him home, he just moped downstairs in his kennel. He did not eat his food and did not drink any water. When I took him outside to do his thing, he just walked out with his head down, did his thing, and walked right back inside.
He wanted nothing to do with playing ball or anything like that.
The next day, he seemed to be back to himself. Poor fella. He was a good boy.

Scientists are starting to study feelings, or emotions in dogs. Dr. Patricia McConnell addresses this in an accessible and entertaining way in her new book:
For the Love of a Dog: Understanding Emotion in You and Your Best Friend
By Patricia B. McConnell
She received her PhD studying and working with the behavior of dogs. She comes down on the side of believing dogs have feelings, albeit more primitive ones.

You must be a joker. Of course your dog has feelings. He can
be happy, or sad, if his life isn't going well. If he's mistreated, or not fed well or he's sick and can't complain he can only whine and whimper. Anyone who has had an animal knows how to take care of him/her, and knows this without asking. Dogs will grieve when their masters are away or they are taken away from their masters. If they've been treated well to miss them, that is.
If your dog walks with his tail tucked down between his two
back legs, he is not happy. And is either afraid, or sad, or
even sick. If he's happy, he will wag his tail when you pet him,
or lick your hand or face when you show him affection. It
sounds like your friends' dog loves him alot to miss him.

Dogs do have feelings. They don't have feelings like humans do though. The dog probably does get sad when your friend is away. Dogs have no concept of time to add to their feelings, but it is true.

Yes dogs have feelings. They know when they have been good/bad. They know when you are not feeling well or are mad at them. They are happy when you return home they can be "down" when you leave. My one dog looks and acts depressed when my husband leaves for work but he gets soooo happy when either me or my husband returns. So I would have to say Yes they have feelings!!!

Of course dogs have feelings. All animals do.
If it has a brain and a heart it has feelings and wants and needs just like we do.Give it the chance and it will make it's own choices and show it has likes and dislikes just like us.

Dogs can have seperation anxiety. Dogs don't get sad. They don't have the same emotions people have.
When people think their dogs look sad, its most likely anxiety, fear, something along those line.
