Sorry, I'm not crazy. I forgot to say something. I asked this because I'm taking a PC Repair and Maintenance class and the teacher asked this. It's important, I have searched in tons of sites but I haven't found it. I will appreciate all your answers.

NO... When you reboot your pc press the esc delete or F1 key when the lights first flash when the pc is booting, to access the bios.

Updating the bios consists of a boot disk 3.5 floppy. and rebooting the pc with the disk in. (be sure to read the exact instructions for the upgrade you are preforming).. Oh and never turn off the computer when updating the bios, you could leave your bios damaged to the point of needing a new motherboard...

Some motherboard manufacturers provide a utility that allows you to flash the BIOS from inside of Windows.

I have never heard of being able to access the BIOS inside windows... but my motherboard can be upgraded with the flash utility.

I would imagine it depends mostly on the make and model of the specific MoBo.

You have Command Prompt or MS DOS right? I don't know also how to upgrade BIOS, but I saw technicians using Command Prompt to access BIOS without restarting the computer. And the commands are a little long.

you CANT , if you try to do a upgrade wile running windows, it will corrupt the BIOS, and trash your system.
There might be some program that does this for you, but you still NEED to reboot to take effect.
