maybe just ask around and see what he's into, find out what he likes and then start a conversation about it with him, letting him know you're interested too. Don't try too hard though, just be yourself. If he doesn't like you for you then he's not worth it.
Guys usually like girls who are comfortable and confident with themselves, not ones that are fake or try too hard.
