Do as I say,not as I do,that should be the slogan for Big Al if he decides to run for president, his mansion alone consumes more energy than ten family homes,he was in the white house for 8 years as vicepresident and did nothing for this country when it came to saving energy, talk about a useless and expensive piece of furniture sitting in the white house

Because the prophet Al Gore does not practice what he preaches. Did you know that Al Gore makes millions from his so called 'carbon credit' company? He says all of his carbon usage is offset by his purchase of carbon credits (FROM HIS OWN COMPANY!). What he fails to mention is the trees his company plants would be planted whether or not his company plants them. What do you expect from a polititian?

Jarrah,

Come on! "...incontravertable facts which tell us that (warming is) happening quicker and a whole lot worse than anything in the past?" Ten of the last 14 years have been the warmest in 650,000 years? Where do you people come up with this nonsense? This type of global warming "sky is falling" panic is exactly what turns people of from the whole global warming concern.

If you'll look at the attached link to a study of past temperatures using ice cores from both antarctica and greenland, you'll see that temperatures have not only been warmer than present dozens of times over the last 10,000 years, but as recently as 400 years ago. It also shows periods of warming by as much as 2.75degC in one century (around 2700 years ago.) Compare this to the warming of 0.6degC over the last century.

The claim of "ten of the warmest years" means since records have been kept, not over the last 650,000 years. These records have only been kept for the last 150 years or so, and the accuracy which we can measure those temperatures has increased greatly over the last decade or two. Considering that 150 years ago the earth was just coming out of the "little ice age," it is no wonder that we are seeing the warmest years on record at present time.

Please stop spewing this nonsense. Learn some facts about global temperatures is you're going to be in on the debate.

Gore just wants people to think he's a hero and trying to get some attention. If he truely was concerned about Global Warming, he would be actually saving energy, which is a really small insignificant contribution to help slow down global wamring. He's just full of talks, but he doesnt back it up with any action. He's not also very convincing, using his elementary knowledge, on the theory about global warming being a man-made cause. Many scientists have proven Gore wrong. But I still think people should try to take action on cooling down the temperatures, wheter or not global warming is caused by us or not.

Yet another uninformed "shoot the messenger" diatribe.

Look BEYOND who is saying it and see what it is that he is trying to get us to understand!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a look at what's going on out there. Watch the film and don't concentrate on the messenger. Go beyond the hype which the media are foisting upon everyone. Do some of your own research.

As to the fact that we've gone thru a lot of periods of Global Warming in the past, that's not in doubt. What is being said about this period is that there is incontravertable facts which tell us that it's happening quicker and a whole lot worse than anything in the past. You just gotta see that we've had, in the past 14 years, ten of the hottest on record. With the ice coring from Antarctica, that record now spans 650 000 years.

Scary, huh? The big oil and energy companies would rather not have us see the inconvenient (for them) truth, because it's going to cut into their profit margins. Good on Al Gore for being the brave human who is out there telling us and copping all the flak for doing it!!!!

Love and Light,

Jarrah

well, it is true that his 'mansion' (I've never seen it) consumes almost 20 times more energy than the average American home.

Then again, his mansion's also 20 times bigger...... almost.

But, to answer your question, Al Gore actually had proposed many plans to Congress in hopes of doing something. Congress hasn't listened until now, after An Inconvenient Truth came out.

And actually, while vice presidents are mostly just people that get paid to do nothing, Al Gore was actually almost an equal to Clinton in what he did, and we should be glad that he got us this far.

Anyway, the question should not be about what Al Gore is doing, but what WE are doing. GET YOUR FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS, PEOPLE!

also, just another note, whoever said that global warming has occured before, understand this:

the largest of them, the 'medieval warming period' raised temperatures at most 4 degrees.

projections for global warming are now 10 degrees in 200 years if nothing is done to stop it

i tell kids not to smoke, drink ,or take drugs
and to go to bed on time ,study , be responsible and moral

does this mean that i have to be like that as well
if it does i am gonna stop telling kids these things

is it then better, to tell them smoke dope get drunk ,have sex and party all night because i would like to do that ??

or not teach them at all???

you are unfocussed
the issue is Global environmental conditions because of mans intervention ,and possible rectifying factors.

the issue is NOT Al Gore personal behaviour.
who cares what he does at home, but what he can archieve publicly matters to a lot of people.

your argument is childish and typical ,when one is in power a whole circus goes along with it
and one is not always in control of what surpasses and who is all involved.

its a merry go round and you are along for the ride ,whether you are in the front seat .or clinging on to the sides.
