I've used the website and it's not sidestep that you're paying or giving money to. All sidestep does is seek out what you're looking for at the lowest possible rate. From there they'll redirect you to the website where you can purchase your flight, hotel or rental.

for instance I searched for a cheap flight in october 06. the lowest fare i found by using sidestep.com was actually sold to me on orbitz.com. Saved a bunch of money too!
