Holde, the Germanic wife of Odwin. She is a triple goddess, where Frigga, her Norse counterpart, was fractured into several different goddesses. Holde's aspects are the Wolf Maiden who marries the King of Winter. In this aspect, half her face is black, covered in soot from tending the pottery kilns in Ice Age Germany. She also raises puppies. As Mother, She is the Silent, Wise Queen of Heaven, interveining as little of possible. As Crone, She is an Underworld diety in a frozen underworld realm. She also travels to tend to the roots of the Tree of Life after they have been gnawed upon by a great dragon, whose name evades me. Holde is very much about having a good work ethic and positive attitude. I find Her to be much more approachable than her husband, Odin. She also rides the Wild Hunt and falling snow was said to be the feathers flying from her Heavenly bed as she shook out Her mattress. I used to be interested in Morrigu, another Crone, but was facinated with Holda. The more I learned about Her, the more I wanted to find out.
