This is a matter of personal preference. Overall I prefer red wines, but there are lots of fantastic white wines that I enjoy as well.
When people speak of wine being good for health, dry red wines are the ones known for their health benefits.

I believe that they are equal, however it is always a matter of preferance. I enjoy light and medium bodied wines when it is warm out, and heavier wines when it is colds. However, it is suggested that reds have health befenits. I have my favorites in each, but would say that red wine is better since it has health properties that white does not.

I've noticed red wine tends to make me feel a bit hung over the next morning. If I'm going to drink more than one glass, I stick to white wine.

There isn't a "better".
A good, deep, rich Chardonnay is awesome. I also LOVE a great white champagne or bubbly.
But, I also partake in a load of fabulous reds. Last night I had a Don Melchor with dinner. Yummy. 90% of my cellar is reds (not counting bubbly or dessert wines), but that doesn't mean I don't like whites.
Sometimes during summer I just want to sit with a nice Sauv Blanc or Reisling and cool off. But, with dinner, sometimes I want a big Barolo to make the most of a good meal.

I like them both for very different reasons. If I am just going to have a glass for the heck of it...I usually go to red. A bad red is not nearly as disgusting as a bad white.
For me it generally depends on a lot of different factors. What am I eating, what's the weather like, what am I craving. More often than not I do gravitate towards red, but during the summer when it is hot there's nothing like a nice chilled glass of sparkling wine, pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc.
i tend to go for wines that are food friendly as that is when I drink my wine most. So things like sangiovese, zinfandel (the real red kind), shiraz, pinot noir for the reds and sauvignon blanc, pinot grigio, viognier for the whites.

Depends completely on the food. But personally, I dont like the taste of wine. White goes good with Fish though, and Red with heavier meats [beef, prok, etc] White is good with some chicken too.

I prefer red wine, but it depends if you're talking about only drinking it or having it with food. If you're eating fish or seafood, white is better, but if you're eating red meat, then red is the right choice.

this depends on your taste, most wine critics now say drink the wine that you like with what ever you like to eat. there is no shame anymore to drink a white with beef or a red with fish.
it is up to you, pick a wine and stick with it, but don't forget to try others. look in your local paper and see if there are wine tastings going on in your area to discover new wines. life is short drink what you like. my cellar has them all.
